Yep,resistive plugs,on original 1st start didn't have these and electrically very noisy, changed straight away and big improvement
Yep resistive leads, tried some known substitutes yesterday,no difference
No, non restive plug extenders

Couple of other bits of general info for any possible thoughts,
Tips signal varying by 4 to5% on tick over. Tick over very stable but controls are verging on asking to start accelerated phase as the errors on the tips are close to the thresholds
Fan relays chattering as variance of temp signal coming back is too great ie signal jumping over too large threshold
Rpm signal quite wild but ok driving the tachometer, not too worried ref this as the variance is in 2digits against 100 s of rpm
System wired exactly as specified, all new main (enlarged) earths new engine loom (supplied)
Just as a little tester yesterday tps was disconnected and system was powered up with a scope on the tps line, showed some spikes coming from the 5second fuel pump purge cycle
There appears to be general noise across the board at the mo

Hey,,, guys,,, soooo happy,,,,,
Been at Rich's again,, we re routed wiring, changed a few things and added a nice inline fuse box on the Ecu main feed and mounted securely, moved a few earthing strap positions, fitted variable flow fuel regulator and gauge, set to 3.5 bar.
New resistive plug leads and a nice new alternator,, what a car this is now.

So after a couple of days hoping,, we fired her up and Rich did a good impression of a bloke with a laptop in hand,,, he knows his stuff this lad.
We had a nice test drive and the cars running great, smooth, everything within limits and just about spot on, mapping session almost inevitable now.
Niggles niggle Rich..... As you can imagine so today was a fulfilling day for both of us.
Cars a real cracker, unique but still very much Tvr.

Get in there. biglaugh

Yes Richard, after what she looked like, Rich pushing on, us fking it up, haha, your contribution was very valuable of that there's no doubt, without Rich's knowledge of his own car I'll openly admit now that I wouldn't have had a clue egards electrics but slowly I've got to understand his car and it's more a joy to behold everytime I see it.

All the important stuff is now working well in fact it's all working well.
Chuffed to have tidied up the wiring today.
Yep it's pretty much bang on.

Well as Alun says, pretty well sorted, the issues with the electrical interference was a real pain and while it would have been good to identify an individual fault I think it was down to a combination of things, bottom line is its all stable now and anything that could have caused the issue has been changed
Hopefully the knowledge base I have built up will be useful in the future for anyone else contiplating doing their own ecu upgrade, it certainly makes a major difference to the drivability of the car, even without the final mapping the car is so compliant, very smooth and tractable, happy to tickle along at 1500rpm in 5th, with the mapping finished it will be as good as any modern tin top
So some final titivations and its there, the nice thing is there are no underlying annoyances, still got the sump/silicone oil leak to sort and a few rattles (think some of those is Alun chuntering in the background)
Good to see the value of these cars getting sensible now, doing the mods that have been done on this car brings it up to current day standards but still retains the classic looks
Roll on some bright Spring mornings, lets get this Sat am BBQ and gathering organised!!
Once again, big thanks to all who have contributed in anyway with this project, I think its time to list a full spec so you can all see the improvements

A very happy Rich!!

Following on from the solving of the ecu interference problem it was felt we could improve the base map with some road tuning.
Lovely day for it today, but some silly bugger left the ignition on all day/night last week and it flatten the battery and buggered the Lamba, spare on order but managed to modify another to get us going, might have to think about some sort of timer circuit so it cant happen again

Anyway some road testing and logging enabled some improvements to be made and considering its not been on the rollers she drives lovely, 5th gear at 1200 rpm at she burbles along fine and just pulls away very happily, no shunting, nothing
She got some stick with the testing today and although she has done probably 50 miles since the build it did reveal a couple of minor issues, air lock in the cooling...sorted and a school boy error....one of the rad fans was wired in reverse!!!
She seems pretty quick and on hard acceleration chirps her back tires on a fast shift 1st to 2nd!
I had my 1st drive with her today and not driven a quick car for 18 months I took it pretty easy but, as others have said she does drive very nicely, smooth and tight with no vices, couple of rattles to sort but that's all for the future
So booked into the rollers at Lloyds in April for some final tuning and get those all important BHP figures!!

Well done - a credit to your determination.
Talking of BHP, health and the weather permitting, are you considering bringing her/him to meet 600+ other TVRs at BHP (Burleigh Horse Power) on Sunday 10th April? I imagine Alun and Tall Richard will be there, as well as loads of your other followers.
There's also a 70 mile Rutland Rumble on the Saturday afternoon if you fancy it. There have been 65 or so cars on that in the last couple of years. A spirited run in convoy around some very nice country roads.

Burliegh is on the calender, it is before its mapping date but its running plenty good enough to go, as you say it will be dependant as to whether I'm running good enough!! and weather, but my intentions are to be there on the Sunday!!

Well for the finale chimmy went down to the canems boys at lloyds specialist development,as a starter, what a great bunch of lads,in the past I have always done things myself and never would have entrusted anyone else to do work for me.
There does come a time when you bow down to greater experience and this really shows with these guys knowledge and enthusiasm, really top guys and I couldn't recommend them anymore highly
Chimmy had been running pretty well on the base map supplied by lloyds but they did the fine tuning, results in the picture, approx 280bhp can't remember what they said to add for the torque figures but the screen shot is what's at the wheels
The power is lovely now really usable with great grunt,so that's about it really time to enjoy

Great to hear from you Rich and really happy to see the results of your labours. Hope you and Sheila are managing ok and glad I was able to contribute in a very small way along the way. It'd be good to have that convoy/drive out (mentioned earlier in your story) some time if you're up to it (at least we can wake the neighbours up a bit !!!)

I have been tasked with selling Richards stunning Chimaera on behalf of his family, so if there is anything I have missed in the advert that you guys think is worth mentioning please let me know and I will add it in.

After seeing the car in person, it really is a credit to all of Richards hard worth and that of our fellow forum members. The new owner will really be getting a good one!

Rather timely.
Glad to hear its been decided on.
Excellent and good luck with the sale.
I've removed a few posts that mention this car on another thread so as to not cause confusion.

It's a bit sorted is this car.
Whoever gets this car will be getting a fully re worked car and a heck of a base line to start out with.
What's the chassis like biggrin
All the best.

Good to see this now listed on PH......couple of useful mods I remember were Odyssey 925 battery in the boot and fuse box relocated in NS cubby behind seat. It's got a new high quality alternator too and has been recently geo'd. It does drive nicely and will be a cracking car for someone.
