I removed my plenum and base plate this week to send away the injectors to injectortune. They've been given a recommendation on here. (On their way there in the post now)

I've been searching on here for torque settings for the base plate and came across reference to a gasket or a spacer.

When I took it apart, there was nothing between the baseplate and the inlet manifold apart from the merest hint of gasket sealant of some kind. Is one needed?

Incidentally, I haven't found the torque setting either. I have the list for all the brake, wheels and suspension bolts but nothing else.

I should add that it's a standard 400. I realise now the extra volume produced by a spacer is usually recommended for the 500s.

Thermal gaskets are supposed to give an advantage in helping to keep induction air somewhat isolated from combustion temps. etc. I've fitted one, available from SC Power, but not sure if it really makes much difference in reality. Other than that just a smear of hylomar (or whatever it's called).

Thanks.

I can see heat isolation may help in turbo applications but a smear of hylomar it is. Got some in the shed, I think. smile

It's interesting that with an insulating gasket or plate on the trumpet base, the plenum is pretty much cool to touch with the rest of the engine toasty after a run. Without, you wouldn't be able to rest your hand on it... can only help and it all adds up

This is what I found too. Curious to know if you just seal the outside of the base plate or weave it around the large holes?

Judging by mine, it needs to go all over:
