Have you fitted all the senders and wiring and everything's hooked up Phil,, new Petrol sender,, there's some work involved in that little lot. Should be well worth it though smile
They're all in the process of going in at the moment ... the warning lights are currently in the "old" dash (I drilled out the old warning light positions to open them up and added new holes to move the warning lights from the radio panel up to the dash) so they will need to be transferred over too.

One thing that I *MUST* remember to do is dim down the main beam warning LED - it's incredibly bright at night!

Depends if you want bulk temperature (in which case a boss welded into the sump or the sup bung itself - a PIA to live with); or flowing oil temperature (in which case one of the tappings on the side of the timing cover above the filter will take a 1/8npt sender quite nicely - ie the Rover oil cooler return port blanking plug works well)

Not normally keen on aftermarket gauges but that looks really good Phil.

I really must get an oil temperature gauge, as well as an oil pressure gauge that actually means something in the real world.
They will probably end up being Spa gauges, even though the look doesn't suit the car, because they flash a red warning if your car goes out of an operator-set, acceptable range.
Then there's the definite need for an accurate AFR gauge too, that also warns of lean running.
I have just ordered an oil temp gauge from CAI (Caerbont) in the original TVR style with sender, came out around £60 delivered.

Also considering an AFR Gauge which they can do in the same style:

Not a bad shout that Simon, I think I may go down the same route

They look the 'biz' Mathew, did they take long to deliver? Did you send donor gauge? I was thinking of getting a 'Racetech' gauge as shown earlier and getting it TVR'd, but takes ages.

That's a very odd AFR gauge ... going down to an AFR of 7:1 and being labelled as "%"...

CAI are doing me one that covers the range of 10:1 to 20:1 which is the range covered by my AEM AFR controller.

I placed an order for the temperature gauge on Monday, very easy to deal with on the phone and via email. Not sure on the lead time yet. I haven't ordered the AFR gauge yet. When I spoke to them about the AFR they do not supply the sensor but will create a gauge to suit the customers choice of sensor based on the voltage table.

Simon did you say you ordered an AFR gauge from CAI? What sensor did you go for?

I know I saw a post recently showing gauges in a pod under the steering wheel in a Chimaera, the Cerbera style pod, suitably adapted.
Can anyone remember where that was, please and help me with a link to the thread?

I need to make a decision on this soon, and at the moment am favouring the pod route, with a pair of Spa gauges for oil temp/pressure and AFR.
I like the Caerbont gauges, but the ability of the Spa gauges to flash a warning of impending doom is, to me, priceless.
Also, using the pod I can leave the dash alone, and have the extra, but non matching, gauges away from the other dials but where I can glance down at them whilst track driving, and where they will catch my eye when they flash bright red when there is a problem on track.

My car runs fine on the road, the extremes occur on the race track.

Hi Matthew wink I only have the oil temp gauge not AFR pointless to have constant AFR monitoring for my N/A motor IMO, for a Turbo motor then yes certainly a lean period with FI could cost you your pistons and more frown

Sorry Simon I must have misunderstood. Yes I am also wondering how useful AFR would be on my modest NA 500 especially as I am looking potentially at MBE ECU next year which with dual wideband Lamdas should take care of all that stuff so I can just get on with driving it.

Might have been this thread I started for the very same reason....

Also Phil came up with a very interesting idea which I also did some research into myself a while back. Getting rid of the stereo headunit and having a bluetooth amp to connect your smartphone to thus freeing up the DIN slot for more gauges. Might be worth looking into Anthony if you are looking for extra gauges.

That one looks better, very nice. The only thing that I wanted which I couldn't find was a bluetooth amp the option to fit a remote volume knob that I could fit onto the steering wheel column similar to the wiper delay knob. I think volume is one thing you do need a direct control for rather than pissing around on the phone to adjust it.

I opted for another headunit in the end but the generally only last around 3 years in the Griff (probably due to the heat) so when this one expires I may look again at the headunit less option. Even if I don't put gauges there I can always re-fit the original cassette deck.

Thanks, guys, great teamwork. Lots of choices to make.
Did V8Grf come back with anything re making more pods, Matthew? Count me in if he did, please.

David (V8GRF) has not heard anything back from Clive (Zertec) I did give him a nudge a couple of months back... still nothing. I was going to leave it a while and then if still nothing them maybe have a chat with Tim at ACT see if he is interested in making something if I can get enough people interested.

What I have opted for at the moment as an interim solution is replacing the oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge with a cerb combined unit and putting the oil temp in the spare slot.

I did consider getting rid of the clock but as silly as it sounds I had a car without a clock once and I really missed it.
