Convertible Chimaeras have them facing forwards, hard top Chimaeras have them facing backwards.

I think they go just behind the radiator, but you choose.

Just in front of the chassis end.

I bought a length of reinforced edge trim from here: http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepar...

Gives me a deformable 35mm deep splitter which is taking knocks well.
Looks a bit rubbish but works:

Not 'togged it yet but my gutter splitter is now on and has survived a test run (can't believe it won't fold) - someone ask me if I noticed any difference? smile

If an F1 front wing does practically nothing below 50 mph I'd be surprised if this does anything below 80 mph but I've just purchased some plastic guttering so I must have some doubts as to my science. hehe

Both the S's felt better at 'motorway' speeds with splitters fitted.

The best evidence I have is that the nearside bonnet flap, so noticeable to track day passengers, is much reduced by the addition of the front splitter.
And the car seems to turn in better in faster corners, and feel more planted. But I am talking about track manners, and driving at higher speeds.
It's most noticeable of all on airfield track days, because of the higher speeds attained.

So to those who never take their car over 70 mph, no, you won't notice a huge difference in handling.
On a hot day you might notice a little bit lower under bonnet temperatures, but it's a bit tricky to set up a back to back test.

I had one from Tvr Power for a few months hehe I secretly think it does work laugh

It's one of my endless excuses for being a bit slow around race tracks,,,, wink
At Hethel on the fast accelerating right hander onto the long straight I kept thinking about the lack of splitter on my car and how light it felt on the front wheels, various reasons like light rear springs etc but it did have me hesitating on the throttle a bit,, just a phycological response to something not 100%

I totally agree with Qbee to be honest,, I just like winding him up,,, nah I was going to hopefully come back on here and agree with him and rave about the amazing difference with it fitted,, I'm loosing confidence in that comment as we speak,, hehe

It does make a difference and especially where Anthony usually drives,, circuits of all shapes and sizes,, wink at speed!

As we are often over 70 mph in our cars on runs etc then it's well worth fitting a solution that can take a knock or two and offer the benefits already pointed out.

ETA looking at my guttering I'll have three spare,,, 14 quid a shot lads if you fancy one. hehe

I'll report back when I've cut my £4.00 2 metre piece guttering to size, I'll have a spare laugh

Anyway I'm also thinking of a flat floor for the underbody section, enclose the out riggers,,, plastic and mastic,, it'll be a masterpiece. biglaugh
That was off the top of my head but that's maybe a genius solution to chassis corrosion and more speed. hehe

Just screw an 8x4 sheet of ply to the bottom of the car and pretend you are Jenson Button, Alun.
That's what the F1 boys have.....so it must be good. yes

Then add oil coolers to the differential gearbox and might as well go the whole hog and dry sump the engine.

It will work but I don't think anyone will actually carry out the modifications, I certainly won't even though when I've been pondering at the underside of my car, I have thought about it!

Simples, a couple of scoops directing air towards gearbox and diff, and maybe a fan in place for when in traffic hehe
Added bonus of the rear poisoning of the dif air intake scoop is it' might suck the rear down onto the track in fast corners,, hehe
Bolt on off to outriggers and chassis rails and just a sealant stopping water ingress above outriggers, simple to remove with the use of a Stanley blade to cut through mastic.
Plastic formed panels for close fit, anyway I digress,,, hehe

My first edition front Spoiler,, you may notice it's black to match the under body paint on one side and white to match the chassis when looking from under the car,,,, I'm a pro you know!!!! Haha
It's terrible as I didn't cut it very straight but I'll give it a week see how it goes, trim it up a bit if it lasts.

Is it my imagination or did my car just grip better at the front,, been for a ride,, felt really planted at the front and I had more confidence in it when turning in,,
Can't be surely,, steering felt direct and sharper,,, I drive this car every day for hours sometimes,, it does work then. laugh
