Let's hear about the reliable ones
Discussion
And here's mine after an epic 1000 mile drive in less than 24 hours to St Tropez.
Pity my French girlfriend wasn't as reliable as first thought.
And another when up in the hills near Plan de la Tour early morning in November, quiet roads and that V8 burble,,
I plan to take my eldest son down to the south of France and let him play the piano in some French Cafe,,,
We'll have a string of gigs in no time
Working holiday so to speak,,,, stranger things have happened. Ha
Great Pics Mac, your car enjoys your ownership by the looks of that. ,

1000 miles in a day, respect.
Pretty pointless really Mac, coffee and plenty of water,, and a headache for two days afterwards,,, I'd do it with more aplom next time. I actually had plenty of stops and rested when I felt tired,,,,, which was never new MBE installed so my ear was permanently on the engine note,,, it was one of those mad drives to a far flung lover for the heck of it.
You only live once,, we're here for a good time not a long time etc etc
I still have the pictures
I found my car burbled along for hundreds of miles at a time and held a steady temp and never got hot. Like a truck

respect none the same. I usually break mine up into two days. Still good to see another looked after TVR on continent and very cool. For an awful moment there I thought I'd clicked on 'caravan club' You only live once,, we're here for a good time not a long time etc etc

Definitely had a few of those moments!
We were going to take the chim but the motorhome is just so useful.
We have been from Santander, through the Pyrenees, visited loads and loads of places and have ended up near the Millau Bridge tonight.
We have been uphill and uphill and uphill, Filled up tonight and worked out the last tankful and it worked out at 29.8 mpg, not bad for an old 2 1/2 ton vehicle with the toilet shower cooker and certainly the kitchen sink on board!

That's had me howling, can't say as I noticed many hills when in the car
That's some economy that is,,
We managed 13 mpg I'm the Yankie motor home on the way to Zolder, with an enclosed trailer behind,, I was impressed
Considering we carry enough spares to build a car,,,, except a rear hub with a bearing pressed in it,, doh!
Enjoy while you can Peter, weathers been good in the Uk but changeable as normal,
Aren't the roads just great, a good old Trany camper van, I bet it's still a blast to hold it back,,
Down hill I reckon you need your wits about you.

Mine is fast approaching 120,000 miles and has never needed recovery in the 25,000 miles I have done in it.
I've not had the best of reliability out of mine (my mates 996 however has been much less dependable than my Chim) but having spent 18 months driving A.N.Other car that actually does have a working odometer and extrapolating backwards I reckon mine had done between 160,000 and 180,000 miles before needing an engine rebuild ... I'm really rather chuffed with that! Phil
Mine is currently going through its unreliable phase; a few parts needed replacing (starter motor, coil, one fan), but after all the upgrades, all the other weak/old parts seem to go now. Unfortunately, cutting out of both fans caused a temporary overheat, and after that the car ran like a pig and needed my first recovery truck trip ever. Hopefully the garage can sort out what went wrong, quite a bit of the engine ancillaries is replaced by now
