Ok tried everything to seal my rocker covers against oil leaks, I am using spacers and tried every gasket and goo and yet cannot stop the leaks, so question anyone using yells terra rockers with a spacer ? Or even just a spacer

If so how did you seal yours ? Really at the end of my tether with this issue !,,,

I ordered taller rocker covers from http://jrcast.com/ with TVR logos on them. Used the rubber gaskets, works nice!

I'd give Mat Smith over at Downham Market a call, see what he suggests. He's very good at that kind of thing.

From memory I believe are used Hylamer on the steel spacers to the alley heads and then used the standard rubber gaskets on top of the spacers with the standard rocket boxes, no leaks.

Since then I ordered a pair of the taller ones from the guy in Ireland. The downside Of these boxes is that it does not have the lip to sit inside the rubber gaskets.

Nigel...Spacers (10mm) with the old cork gasket either side worked for me.

Yes but with the TVR logo milled off I guess thats why they was cheap at the time scratchchin then I purchased a 2nd set because they was NOS with the OE openings, given 1st set to Peter he prefers to have the gasket lip in place wink

What breather setup do you run Nigel? I'm just wondering if you get a bit of pressure in the crankcase on boost which makes them weep.

That could be a factor along with 'too much' oil getting upstairs... not unusual to restrict the oilways feeding the rockers.

I also use the TVR cast covers but the lips on mine are not a good fit with the rubber gaskets; do just about seal 'though.

I have both sides connected to a catch tank, this in turn is piped to the Infeed side of the charger to get some suck

I managed to get a pair of the cast taller TVR rocker covers , is the rubber gasket the best one to use , at least this now elininates the spacers.

So some more questions

How do you restrict the flow to the rockers

Anyone know what the oil filler cap thread size ??

Nigel, the rubber gaskets will work as is (just don't locate as nicely) but I know others using these covers have milled or ground the excess off the lip to make a better fit - I have not done the restrictor mod but believe it essentially involves the oilway through the pedestal having a drilled plug pressed or screwed into it - I imagine Rob or JE would be able to comment on the pros/cons

Just dont go mad with the restrictor diameter I threaded mine when I did the heads, I used brass grub screws and drilled the centers (not fitted yet in shot) puts the oil to better use i.e bearings etc still get a fair old wallop of oil going to the rocker gear though wink
