Nice.... What pads have you gone for Keith.
324 mm discs?
I personally think they look fabulous when the cars viewed side on from about 10 yards away. Just made for the car almost.
I got mine form Oldphonebloke off ebay using Caprisport brackets that all came with the kit.
Excellent upgrade and something I find as enjoyable to use as the throttle sometimes smile

Let us know how you get on with them. wink

Unsure what pads to use so went for standard pagids working on the principletart there and that the brakes are a slight overkill so will start there and see how we go.Bought all of the parts separately total cost was
£538.

I too went for both pagid discs and pads with my brembo calipers but found that l got quite a fair amount of brake squeal, then my discs warped!!!. I binned both the pagid pads and discs for Bosch discs and brembo pads. 2 years on no brake squeal or warping. Moral of the story l went for a cheaper alternative through Euro car parts and still ended up paying for quality discs and pads which l should have done in the first place to compliment the quality brembo caliper.

Brembo discs... and Brembo pads..... in my Brembo callipers thumbup

Saying that I've used Pagid loads in the past and never had any problems their products, if you think about how many cars get fitted with Pagid pads and discs every week we'd soon be hearing about any problems.

Euro Car Parts who sell Pagid brakes must shift tens of thousands of discs annually in the UK, probably hundreds of thousands... so surely the people who use Pagid day in day out (independent mechanics) would have boycotted the brand years ago if discs were regularly warping, and Euro Car Parts would have switched to selling a different brand.

I'm about to stick Pagid discs & pads on the back of 'Ol Gasbag', and I'm completely confident they'll be absolutely fine... just like the well used Pagid set that are coming off were.

Hello,

I think for normal road use they are fantastic products and as you have said hundreds of thousands are sold without problems. But if you intend to track your car which l did on a regular basis, then this is the only reason l can offer for the disc failure.

That makes perfect sense thumbup, I've seen mates on track days with their discs glowing orange nuts, track use clearly puts brakes under a whole different world of abuse than driving on the road, so I can certainly see why you might warp a set of road based Pagid discs on a track day. Indeed its always amazed me to see just how much stick people give their brakes on track days and get way without horrific failures.

The Pagid stuff from Euro Car Parts is definitely designed for road use, I don't track my car but if I did Pagid offer a very well regarded range of track focussed brake parts, there's nothing wrong with the Pagid brand you've just got to choose from their appropriate range.

Brembo operates just like Pagid from what I can tell, and to the best of my knowledge the Brembo discs & pads I fitted recently were from Brembo's every day road use range, are my Brembo discs & pads really any better than Pagid road brakes from Euro Car Parts? Hard to say really, but the Brembo stuff does come in a red box so that makes em faster right there hehe.

As someone who only drives on the road I prefer to fit pads designed for road use... because with brakes you never get something for nothing, indeed there's always a compromise. Track day pads typically take longer to warm up which can be dangerous early in the morning if you need to do an emergency stop before they're properly warmed up, they often squeal too and always produce more dust. Clearly all that makes track day pads far from ideal for someone like me who drives on the road.

I say keep track day brakes for the track and road stuff for the road, where some people seem to get it wrong is when they fit track focussed brake pads to a car that spends 95% of its time on the road. The thing these folks don't realise is track day pads don't make you faster of the road, indeed they could even be more dangerous than a set of good road pads in certain situations.

Proper track pads stop you in half the time road pads do,, but that's assuming a very smooth piece of Tarmac to brake on, the roads of Britian are something of a disgrace and it's undulating nature would make proper track pads very dangerous to use, sudden and total lock up etc,,
I've also gone for the Brembo road discs and pads, very progressive and easy to feel.
I did have bad brake squeal even with this set up but some copper slip quietened it down.

I'm sure the Pagids will be fine, use the best brake grease you can get and add some vibration tape on the back of the pads and they should be silent I'd imagine. smile

Hi Keith.
They look good.
Just wondering if you could make a list of the parts you used, as im looking at doing a brake upgrade to my Chim.
Im sure a few others would be great full of the list aswell.

Bought the callipers from a chap on ebay , the brackets came from oldphonebloke and fitted perfectly, the pads as discussed , braided hoses are Hel with stainless fitting , callipers are ford focus 324mm they are available from several places . My front wheels are 17inch SP2 and there is plenty of room in both directions.
Braking is very smooth and progressive well worth the effort

Ta Keith
So can you tell which adapter brackets did you use, ie were they specific for the TVR,s or mondeo/focus versions...There seems to be a lot of choice on the bay of E,s....
Im guessing these wont fit under the TVR imola wheels, as you have fitted the 17" versions.??
Thanks..
