I was up at my parents over the weekend so didn't have the laptop to plug in at the time and had the MIL light coming on accompanied by revs dropping at idle to ~600rpm. Happened a few times and cleared until engine had warmed up a bit and then seemed fine. On the drive home in traffic when pulling away from a stop and just re-engaging the clutch at a slow crawl would cause the revs to drop and almost stall. First though was the lambda sensor as feels like a fueling issue. However last night I connected up the laptop and checked the logged faults. Almost everything except the lambdas was logged: throttle pots, air temp, water temp, battery. Anyway, cleared the logs and started her up and as is always typical no faults were shown. Idled for a while without issues, went for a drive, still no MIL light. Only fault that got logged was for battery. When the engine is running, battery value is typically just over 13 volts; what is the alarm level? Will a battery alarm cause a MIL light?

It's just come back from a 12k service and it was washed by them, so possibly water in some electrics somewhere. Only other thing is one of the manifolds is cracked which would be causing one of the banks to run rich.

When I first start up from cold, it can idle badly at ~550rpm as though half the cylinders aren't working but a couple of quick bursts on the throttle and it picks up and idles fine.

It is definitely worth getting that manifold repaired/replaced. I had mine welded about four years ago and they've been fine since.

Water ingress could have contributed to the problem. I found out that in torrential rain the Oil Pressure warning light can come on - made me miss a beat I can tell you...

I had something similar recently.

It was an earthing issue behind the centre console allowing the ECU Earth to float upwards towards the 12v feed therefore the ECU saw a voltage lower than 12v triggering the mil light and logging a voltage alarm in the ECU. It also caused running issues due to the ECU not having correct reference voltages.

Also check the main battery to chassis earth.
