I just noticed that the belt on my Serp engine was not running correctly on the bottom pulley, the belt was one tooth to far forward towards the front of the car, i repositioned it and went for a 10 mile drive only to find it back out of place, i removed the belt to check all the pulleys, most of them look out of line with each other, is there any way to set them up accurately?, yhe lower pulley looks to be the worse, too far back towards the engine, i donr have power steering or air con.

While checking the pulleys i noticed that the water pump has some play, this is from the shaft rather than the pulley itself, also if i spun it one way it was quiet, but spinning it the other way, clockwise if looking at it from the front of the car, there was a whirring sound, is that normal?
Thanks
Paul

Sounds like a water pump is on the way out.

All the pullies should be in perfect alignment unless something is wrong.

For instance, it is possible that you have the wrong pulley on the alternator. There shouldn't be any reason why the crankshaft pulley is not in perfect alignment. It can only go on one way.

Check you have the right belt. It should have six ribs on it, hence the code PK6. If you have the correct pulley then the belt will sit perfectly in it.

Hi Phased, yes its the right belt, looking at it again i think i could correct it if i could adjust the one before the crankshaft pulley, its a dummy roller where the AC or power steering would be, but again i dont see any adjustment,
Should the water pump spin freely in both directions without any noise?, if i need to replace can i get one from land rover instead of TVR?
Thanks
Paul
