Morning Gents any advice as usual would be appreciated
In pursuit of trying to get 430 Chim to run better tried to change the distributor at the weekend with a new unit from TVR parts.
The nightmare started when we removed the old one and new one didn't come with oil drive pick up.
After changing the gear over with punches and much swearing the old cam gear sprocket broke in two.
Managed to change to new one then next difference is multi plug to amplifier wiring different we have a three pin plug with two white wire on one pin and a yellow wire on the end pin with no wires going to middle pin.
The " replacement " has come with a 3 wire plug with totally different colours !
Back to nightmare refitted the new unit and put the old amplifier on and car now turning over but will not start.
We have no spark whatsoever.
Coil has power to it but no spark from king lead.
Any help or suggestions would be great as this car is beginning to seriously live on borrowed time.
All the best

Sounds like the amp is not switching, or has become defective. There are tow small spade type connectors that go from the trigger head in the dizzy to the back of the amp- are these seated OK?

Many thanks Blitz
I have bodged my wedge distributor into it and it starts so definitely new unit related.
Horrifying poor quality so will now look at cleaning up the old Lucas one swopping gear back and leaving as is.
Many thanks

I had something similar turned out the inside distributor cap king lead contact to rotor arm was squashed. Its on a spring so a light pull fixed the problem so it made contact with the rotor arm

A lot of these new parts really do seem to be absolute junk. Secondhand original Lucas is the only way to go imho. Official genuine parts my backside.

I'm sorry to hear your problems.
I also have a 430. I attach pictures of my wiring to the amp. (middle pin not used)
Not the best original wiring I know but hey its a TVR smile
