A few of the usual suspects will be back at Shakespeare County Raceway trying to better our 1/4 mile times on Saturday 8th of October.
We usually make a weekend of it and camp over.

It would be great to see some new and old faces turn up for this one.
Its been a while and I know there are some fantastic cars out there that need to come show what they can do.

All you need to do is turn up. Bring your car, your driving licence and a helmet if you have one. We will have everything else you could possibly need on the day and may even provide brews and biscuits.

I've cancelled Hethel for financial reasons frown but this I might just scrape the pennies together for smile
Compared to a trackday it's very cheap to do a day at the strip and as its only down the road I'll do my best Derek, mainly so you can have a go at a decent time in my car,, then 'll have a bench mark to aim at for the rest of the day.
It's actually nothing but a personal challenge in many ways, just to get the best out of you and your car. I wasn't to pissed off when Peter flattened me hehe as you can only go by the level of tune in your own car, something trackdays lack is a clock,,, nothing pleases me more than looking at a bunch of lap times and thinking of where you gained or lost on each lap,, consistency is king and all of that gets lost on trackdays, sad because the clock dispels balony, so that's where the strip offers you something for the tech in you, studying the splits, it's a great buzz,
Then when you get your fastest time,,, that slip of paper takes on a new importance.

I look apon blokes like Derek as Tvr gods,,, but actually he really helped me get my head around the drag stuff and gives his advice in an easy way,,
I'd love to see some more Tvr boys having a go so if anyone feels like they'd be up for this then do it as its a pure test and 12 odd seconds to 110 mph in 1/4 mile is quite something to feel and see.
The other thing I'd like to add is when I was at Shakespeare raceway ( Stratford) almost all the other entrants etc seem to really appreciate our cars,,, they actually get it so it's not long before you feel right at home with mad fkers in madder cars it's brilliant. wink

Stop it Alun you will make me blush.
Seriously though it just comes down to practice and track time and learning your car, it's tyres etc.
All good fun and can get addictive.

I don't think you will be any slower at all.

Looks like it's building to a great meet. Let's get onto Matthew, Mac, Neal, Nigel and invite as many as we can.

If anyone wants some tyres like Derek uses but that will fit on a standard car (without arch's needing to be cut away) - I have a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial's - P255/50R16 ET STREET RAD. (full details here - http://www.trackstuff.co.uk/Mickey%20Thompson%20St...) - we are softening the Orange Chim for road use so won't be drag-stripping it again. They have had literally had only two runs down the strip so almost brand new.

They are both mounted on Team Dynamic's Motorsport wheels (4 stud) and will only sell them on the rims.

Message me if you are interested and can send more pics if needed.

thought I would bump this thread as it could build to be a fantastic get together.

Will Brummmie be along to attempt to retake the number 1 spot?
Will Peter break into the 11's?
Will Barrie get close to 10's?
Will I melt something aluminium?

These I do not know the answers to, but what I do know is that the crack will be great as always.

So come along and joint the crazy TVR gang. This will also be the AGM for the MCC. All welcome to attend. Bring your own beer. Chilli will be on offer smile

I think we should use this as an annual get together, crap weather or not. It is always fun for the crack, as Derek has said. It would be great to see the gang for a meet up and a 'few' beers and Derek's chilli.

I will be there early Saturday - camping over on the Saturday night.

Might be a spectator unless I can MOT / Tax / Insure my car.

Still really enjoyable to watch though in the stands (with some Strongbows smile ) I was so vomit last year.

I'm sure I can bring a few beers Derek, your a star, I'll,do that then, I'll bring my sleeping bag.

I've done years of trailering, if I can help or drive a van ( insurance ??) just let me know smile

I'm coming so I can ear wig in on the MCC AGM hehe
Maybe lobby a few members as to my inclusion
Is it 350 bhp the entry barrier,,
Or under 12 seconds for the 1/4 mile
I've got nearly 350 torques that feels pretty darn fast, will that get me any votes,,,, probably not knowing you hardcore types laugh

Cheers Derek, I can feel a real good shin dig coming on.

Hey people, Shakespeare raceway is great for viewing, loads of room and grassy areas, it's very very friendly and up close, it stinks of fuel, and there's people who are really bonkers there, I fit in hehe
You don't need to race to get right in amongst the cars and pits area, buzzing mechanics and amazing machines with one thing on their plates,, power and speed and grip.
Loads of room to park up and you can go to Stratford for a coffee or souvenir yikes as its only a few miles away

Get over the fence and into the pre race line up when Derek or Peter or all our fast Tvr's are preparing to go out, your literally just over the other barrier from the cars racing,,, then watch Derek launch, blooming hell fire,,,, yes

If any of you guys are at a loose end, your also going to see sorted Tvr's. it's a lesson and a joy to behold I reckon, I learnt a huge amount about what to do with these cars when meeting one or two of these guys a few years ago, you can see a path to success. And Derek's a Champion, best celebrate that as its a rare thing to see a Tvr win something.

I'll shut up and look forward to it. wink
