Morning
My S1 has a odd finger gate gear selection set up which I want to revert back to the original style, two things what is under the gatier in the way of rubber and fixing, also has anybody got a old gatier I can use as a templet to manufacture a original gather.
Thanks
Rob

The leather gaitors are available on Internet - eBay. Never done the job, but there is a rubber bung below to block exhaust gases- Sierra item I believe.

Here's one of the threads about the rubber gaitor. I know Racetec were trying to get this item remanufactured, but it wasn't up to standard, so stalled.

Maybe Phillpot's sister could add these items to her range?

There should be a rubber gaiter, from basic variants of the Ford Sierra (and P100 pick up). they are getting quite scarce now a days. Secured with TVR's usual selection of screws, pop rivets, gaffer tape wink
A search of old threads should throw up an option or two.

I would suggest playing around with some cheap vinyl until you get it "right" then reproduce in leather. Most gaiters on Ebay etc. (unless specified for the S series) are too "tall", it is a wide, flat pyramid if that makes sense!

Whether you use leather or vinyl, go for a thin piece of material. It's easier to sew and and won't foul the movement of the gear lever. A leather skirt from a charity shop will give you plenty of material to work with on the cheap thumbup

Hi Boys and Girls
Thank you for the input, dare I say it I was sat in the airport lounge at 4am waiting to fly to Porto pollenca Majorca thinking about how I was going to sort this gatier out much to the wife's annoyance.
Can you tell me how the gatier is fixed other than gaffa tape as I have no reference to how it was before the remodeling job.
Thanks rob

There's nothing too technical or difficult: 4 short self-tappers and a few strips of Velcro do the job just fine. Use a decent adhesive to attach the velcro to the tunnel. Simples smile
And make sure that you can move the gearlever through the full range of gears without stretching the material or getting obstructed by the folds bunching up.

P.S. I'm informed by the spelling police that it's 'gaiter'. wink

On mine the leather gaiter is not fixed, it just tucks under the centre console.
