I've just removed my LED H4s as I've been gifted a set of the latest laser headlight units from my mate who works for Osram, these laser units won't be available to the general public for a year or so but I'll be doing a full review here in a couple of weeks.

Please would anyone have a list of suitable alternative headlamps?

I figure there is the VW Lupo, Golf Mk1, the lorry LEDs by the looks of it.

My reflectors look rusty but I want to keep the car original, although the Griff-look upgrades look good. I don't want to have to modify the wing in terms of sanding to fit etc. I just want to fit an alternative lamp in, perhaps drill some new holes at the most.

I would have thought there must be loads of possibilities? TR6 / Austin Maxi / Jaguar / Ford etc etc. Surely somebody must have experimented with a big parts bin.

I have heard the Lupo headlamp is the best but that it doesn't fit without sanding the wing and looks odd without the upgraded lens cover which I don't want to fit.

Thanks.

Just looking quickly at the lamps on eBay, could be not use something like this?;
http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...

Maybe source the cowls and covers???

I'd be happy to have a go at fitting them myself, but just thinking that while I'm at it, I might aswell get the best performance I can get for sensible money - any ideas???

very nice bloke, and none of the thick black banding either so looks like they did a good job.

Thanks for all the positive comments,I realize I've not done anything out the ordinary here but it doesn't matter how many photo's you browse through you're never quite sure what it will look like on your own.

Daz : I'm not very technical but I believe they upgraded my lights to a 7 inch Hella headlight and after speaking to a few other owners who have this Mk3 conversion they all say the light it disperses is much better than the previous setup. I've yet to use the car in the dark yet so can't comment, but I was always quite satisfied with the old ones and it's not the reason why I converted.
I was all over the place trying to decide which route to take,at one stage I was convinced I was going the Lupo look, then convinced I was going the Steve Edwards but then convinced myself for this Mk3 look.
The work itself kept getting delayed because there wasn't any lenses in stock, well there was, just not where they were sourcing them from (tvrparts) I finally got mine from racetech myself.

Another angle.

Yeah, that should be a direct replacement for the current lamps in the kits I'd of thought. Going full led lamps possibly even better, just a case of finding the right fit.
I thinking talking to one or more of the suppliers of the kits is the way forward. Maybe they just using the older tech as nobodies asked for anything else?
I'm 2-3 months away from doing anything myself, as really need to cracking on with current mods, but looks like a really interesting next mod and worth a discussion with the companies nearer the time - unless someone gets to speak to them first.
