That looks fantastic so professional with the border. I presume you need a decent sized printer for that. Have you done anything with the bonnet slashes too?

I would be interested in the printed piece if it's something that could be repeated, did you print it yourself?

Alas I did not and the guy that did probably won't again.

If you can get the CAD file, you can get someone to print it. There’s a company called Materialise that can print in various materials, and they post it out to you once done.

I used them many years ago for something else, and heard recently that they’re still going strong.

I am thinking about doing this conversion.

Can someone tell me, do you bond the fibreglass pods in first, and then once they have gone off do you bond the lenses on?

I read this a while ago, not sure if you've seen it... (just spotted the same link on the first page of this thread)

https://www.steve-edwards.com/chimaera-headlight-c...

As many point out, it is not quite the same as the original mk3 conversion, the black inner rim is quite noticeable unless you have a black car - if I remember rightly, yours is red...

I think the Steve Edwards install looks good on most colours, quite lotus Elise S2 looking.

I believe it is also relatively easy to return back to stock unless you go for the VW lupo option

The lights look awesome and even if it's possible to revert back to the original TVR light units, why would you.

Thanks, yes I have seen that. I am not interested in the Steve Heath conversion. I am looking at the Mk 3 conversion from Central

I completely get that, it looks much smarter in my view.

That's the great thing about FRP, you can adapt your light pods to suite the lights you like.

If your original bosch units reflectors are dulling then l think IMHO it's better to get a completely sealed headlight unit, to stop the reflectors from tarnishing over the years.

Best tool or way to cut out the old bowls?
What have people used?

I used a reciprocating saw to roughly cut them out, then sanding drums on a drill - worked well.

I had Mk 3 headlamp conversion at CentralTVR a couple of years ago and while the headlamp housing looks great I’ve nothing but issue with the lights since. Lucky I have a friendly MOT garage nearby. His view is that there is no clear pattern but not high so a pass.

I wonder if these would fit into a Chimaera. If they are E marked, there shouldn’t be any problems come MOT time:
