Rule of thumb daz works like this we live at around 14.2psi from the srrounding atmosphere so basicaly you have that pressure being forced into your engine without any help so if your engine produces 200bhp under these circumstances if you blow it at another atmosphere or 14.2psi it will double the horse power to 400bhp so half a bar or atmosphere would give you 300bhp less mechanical losses but thats how forced induction works harder you blow up go the losses so its not open ended

or for Daz the answer is yes. Just 4lb of boost should give you another 80 bhp or thereabouts.

OP, useful information about the various RV8 lumps in thread (link) below, written by Rob Robertson in 2013...

Just crank it up Daz you know you want to. We'll then know what pressure you can get up to before it goes pop and won't go so high hehe

daz any kind of forced induction wont like a hot cam either standard or blown specific plus compression needs to be below 9 ideally then be carefull watch for detonation when mapping but you do end up with an amazingly tractable engine pussy cat at low revs mad further up.

Daz I have the turbo from eann on my high compression 4.6. Thats a 10/1 comp engine. I run around 4 psi and the engine is fine. I went from 280 (with cat) bhp to 380. Torque is around 470 :O

With the SC you get around the same numbers but the torque curve will be more linear. With the turbo you have full torque from 3000... dangerous in the wet

The torque figures on these FI engines never fail to amaze me, and it's where the awesome acceleration figures come from.....

Great numbers Ole, and totally with you on the 'dangerous in the wet' comment....

You need to be a driving God to handle 380bhp and 470ft/lbs in something that weighs less than a Ford Fiesta though... wink

The max torque on mine hits around 3,650 rpm and must be one of the reasons Dom said it was so quick. Remember this is a 4.0 litre so gawd knows what the bigger lumps are like.
