Just skipped through your original link Chilli, I mean FFS do all AM owners really think they're James Bond, I mean FFS!
Hi Richard smile

In answer to your question I have no idea... I've never met another Aston owner and unless I join the AMOC I probably never will hehe

That said, I can well imagine that alot of owners do think they're a bit Bond-ish.... Sad I know but probably true...

Anyhoo, have to go, M is calling me on my mobile.....
Have you got the CD with all the Bond music, my mate hashehehehehehe

Love Aston Martin's but bunch of knobs springs to mind
Oh dear, this is turning into a general gassing kind of thread... it is possible to own an Aston and not be a knob.... just my personal opinion...

I've owned a TVR for getting on for seven years now, during that time I've met some great people, and like to think I've made some good friends... No, I have made some good friends...

If bunch of knobs springs to mind when it comes to people who own Aston's then I'm guessing you've never met someone who owns one...

Feck it wish I hadn't started this now.... never mind... smile
I wasn't referring to every person who owned an Aston as a knob, it was the whole champagne lovey thing. Yes i've had mates who have owned them, only one i my friends owns one at present an ex TVR owner and he is a top bloke
Apologies Dave... I may have over reacted there.... original post really was tongue in cheek and not meant to be taken seriously...

Sorry again...

Chilli... smile
Chilli, tongue in cheek is the only way to go my friend, life is to serious. We need our fun and banter it keeps us from going crazy
Whatever car I drive I'll always be a knob... hehe

Hahahahahah that did make me chuckle.

You should join the AMOC and get involved, most Aston owners I have met have been very similar to TVR guys...... having said that almost all of them have been V8V owners can't comment on the owners for the six figure ones ;-) All all seriousness though nothing to lose by checking out the AMOC scene, I am sure it is not all James Bond and Champagne, better pack the tucks and the bollinger just in case though, I heard it is on special at Sainsbury's

I may have a nose just to wind some up lol.

The db9 was a fav and loved the vanquish (you can tell I'm a Cerb owner, I seem to be drawn to 2+2s) not bond but in a tvr u get shaken and stirred. I'm t total so I wonder if they'll notice I've got apple tango in my glass lol

Somehow deals on champagne at Sainsbury's and nectar points doesn't quite cut the mustard, shouldn't the head butler be dealing with all this?

(Q. What's the difference between a Porsche (aka AM) owner's girl and a TVR owner's girl?

A. The former is wearing Chanel no 5 and the latter is wearing no knickers.)

A

ETA - The joke wasn't mine, my head butler told me it 😉

I posted a thread in the Aston forum a while back about swapping the Griff for a V8V, might be of interest:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

but I think the way to go would be own both.

Chilli

Would be good if you told us your thoughts on this once you have had your V8V for a while?

Interesting thread there.....you wonder if there's a natural progression for a lot of people....like many S owners (not all of course as their great cars in their own right) will move to a Chim. Maybe its a financial stepping stone for some but having fun on the way?

I've always fancied owning an AM...but then again I'd also like a 911 (964) turbo....and a Lambo probably.............but there has to be something pretty special about a Tvr especially when AM owners still miss them! A Tvr is not as usable year round as many sports cars, the dodgy electrics and bits that fall off and the questionable design and positioning of various components......or maybe thats all part of the allure, coupled with the sound, looks and raw power.

My eldest daughter asked me the other evening if I could have any car what would I have? ( mainly because she wants me to take her to prom in a lambo I think) I took a couple of minutes to think it through and as much as I love many cars I couldn't narrow it down between......Tvr's! Only thing I feel I'm missing is a large garage full of them....and a car lift smile

I love the fact that more often than not they are not your daily driver as it makes the drive more special and one you look forward to. The looks they get where many people have no clue what they are, the fact people love the sound and that they are such a talking point.

Some may argue that Tvr's are a marmite car but in my experience (as humble as that may be) would say different.

The last line above got me thinking: Marmite car or not? We often go to Knaresborough and park in the public car park near the river in the centre of the town. To get to it you must drive along a narrow road that is often busy with tourists and locals out for a walk. I've driven it many times in my Cerb, Chim and DB7 Volante.
When driving the DB7 with the roof down, people admired the car and stood aside to let you through and often heard positive comments.
The Cerb was a crazy car with a LOUD exhaust so everyone knew you were coming a long way off. Couldn't hear any comments (good or bad as a result) but people moved aside anyway. Maybe scared or something.
The Chim has had the least positive comments and even with the roof down burbling along carefully, some people were reluctant to move aside. Last time we were there we got 2 less than favourable gestures from 30 something alpha males in different groups. So they may well be Marmite cars although to balance it, most friends and visitors do make positive comments.

I suppose that could be because they are friends and family! I've had no negatives yet with either the S or Chim but quite a few people I've spoken to about Tvr speak far more fondly about the Cerb or tuscan....but I guess they are more iconic.

The worst comments have been at Burghley strangely enough! Almost all were made by people saying they did not like the colour frown
I accept it is not to everyone's taste and definitely a Marmite one argue

Burghley.....really, like what comments?? Is that the original paint job Iain?

The colour is unusual but its not exactly offensive is it. I like the colour actually, mines metallic blue and the most popular if you go by the recent survey on here, but its also one of the most common colours...different is not bad IMO....stands out thumbup
