Roll Cage/Hoops - Any new designs?

I like that! May I ask who made it?
You may! But I dont know . It was advertised in Sprint and I went and bought it with harnesses and seats, but never fitted those. The guy had in his Tamora also before. Was from Swindon way and think his Tamora was silver? Bespoke then fitted it for me. I'll get some better pics or if you need you can come over an measure up?also bear in mind that many big accidents do not necessarily involve a roll but instead a side impact into a car, tree barrier - take your pick. The hoop will add to that protection a bit but only if the impact is where the new post is located - if its in front of it where you sit you will be in trouble. For proper track work you really need a decent cage with an additional door bar. trouble is it does mean a hole in the dash by the A pillar so probably not an option for most people.

I removed the runners etc from the seat and modified the frame to sit as low as possible. My head has some clearance to the side bar of my cage and I always wear my harness tight on the road.
im only 6 ft but have short legs long body, so I've no chance. On the tuscan racer i have metal plates across the bottom of the chassis rails and my flat aluminium seat is bolted straight to that, so my arse is actually below the top of the chassis rails... ( but still above the bottom) to get me under the cage..here you go

Is this a road car? Those bars look great but in a none roll over accident they're likely to crack the scull of anyone not wearing a helmetUntitled by Brundall Motorsport, on Flickr

I'm off to intatrim this Friday to look at their oddesey 11 seats. I believe these will get me lower in the cab, as well as offering increased support.
Is that what you have, a Richard 858? In which case, any photos with your beanpole frame in the hot seat?and here's the best I've got with me installed.

I do indeed have these fitted, I've bolted the drivers seat straight to the floor as I'm 6'6" and am 37" inside leg (I have extra steel on the outriggers that serve as seat fixings) but have transferred the original seat runners onto the passenger seat. Unfortunately I dont have any close up photos with me seated but here's one of the seats fitted.
and here's the best I've got with me installed.
I had harnesses fitted like that, I took them out when I removed my roll bar. 4 point harnesses will ensure your head stays in dangers way if the car rolls and here's the best I've got with me installed.

No rollbar Richard?
Not at present Peter, currently not required in the Sprint Championship (road going only series). However it may be soon so I don't intend to fit one until MSA position is confirmed either way at which point (if required) I'll know the spec. In other words I don't want to buy one now that won't be compliant should the regulations change. I think I'm the only regular without one but can puff my chest out and say things like "they just add weight" or "I prefer living dangerously" etc., etc. Meanwhile I'll just be careful!! I'd say it's a fair bit less hazardous than trackdays actually, no other cars on track to run into you!Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
