Nice work thumbup but get that bolt reversed before the body goes back on (inc the offside side) or you will regret it later on grumpy
Cheers, just telling my mechanic now, its the rear suspension hasn't started on the front yet, so the bolts the wrong way round then

Just think of when the body goes back on when considering these bolts.
The body will obstruct you from removing them in the future that way round.
Same with the front lower wishbone bolts by the look of them on my car. wink

All the suspension bolts - front and rear - that hold the arms to the chassis should be 'in' to 'out' as Simon (Sardonicus) has said. Every car is slightly different and while some may be able to remove the lower bolts as you have them now i.e. 'out' to 'in', I could not. idea

You might want to swap the bottom ones as well, I can't remember for certain but I have a feeling they will be the same problem .. just on case ..

cheers, will make a note of them too

Picked up my OZ vegas today, full powdercoat finish, powder chrome on the outer rim theres odd blemish on the one wheel where the metal had pitted badly but overall pretty happy with them for the £££. All wishbones & suspension are now on, just waiting for four refurbed red calipers from bigredd in Worcester.

So i ended up taking the plunge & just dropping the four seized up calipers off to 'bigred' in Worcester, must say they came back & are worth every penny!
Just waiting on the later style top front wishbones & the front discs & brakes can all go back on.

Have you used Upol Raptor on the wishbones too?

I have indeed, but not without shot blasting & hot zinc coating etc beforehand. The U-Pol raptor is tintable so can pretty much do it any colour you want

Indeed it does! Love the black and red combo. Works really well. I wish I had a garage like that to work in! Getting sick of shimmying about in my single en block hamster cage frown

Interesting ..................... I contacted BigRed when doing up the MGF 75th Anniversary the other year for a quote for reconditioning the brake calipers however the price quoted was rather silly in fact it was cheaper to buy brand new Alloy AP racing calipers for the front with new 304mm dia discs than taking up their quote.

I wish I even had a single block hamster cage to shimmy about in! Although I guess at least my driveway is roomy and there is plenty of daylight & fresh-air hehe

Cheers gents, black & silver looks good too got the same on my 'S' wink

Regarding Bigredd, I got quoted £240 for all 4 calipers that's to rebuild them and the premium finish

Thank you ......................... hmmm seems they didn't want my business as that is a lot less than the near £400 they quoted me. As mentioned I bought a pair of brand new alloy AP Racing MG calipers and new discs for the front and got a pair of recons else where for the back.

Yours look to be a nice tidy job and the reason I phoned BigRed was due to favourable comments on the MG forums.

Jesus £400! That's ridiculous, can't blame you for buying new calipers instead. Must say they are a superb finish at £60 a caliper I can't complain (would of been cheaper if I went up with cash)

Project chimaera resumed after finding a broken lobe on the original camshaft then ordering one off ebay which was nothing like original then deciding on going with the 'MC1 camshaft kit' from v8 developments.. Now the engines back in, rocker covers & plenum sprayed up, bunch of red silicone hoses, stainless pipes from act & body going back on next week. Did i mention an absolute crap alarm system to replace too! Think i need Ted Di'biase's briefcase laugh

Looks like it is coming along nicely even if not as quick as you would like. That always seems to be the way though.
