Well first day since that it's been dry (inc the st & mud the farming community scatter on the roads around here) and brought the car into work. Seat base is a little firmer but the lumbar support is still not in the right place. 6 miles inc moving seat forward, back, reclined upright still achy back. Must just be getting old.

Should I get one of those bead things ;-)

£360
Cheaper than replacing the car.............

Actually a bit undecided at the minute as we are looking at a house move etc etc and I've been considering everything from replacing the Chimaera with a Wedge to a Transit Van but what other seats fot the Chimaera?
People have mentioned MX5
I need dark blue, and there seems a lot of Boxster seats in dark blue, anyone tried them?

Recolouring seats isn't that difficult or expensive especially going from lighter too darker colours.

However, before you try changing seats try sitting a little lower in the originals. Whenever I get in for the first 10 mins I feel uncomfortable until I slide down a little to what would normally be almost a slouch and then they feel great.

We did about 3000 miles in 2014 on a drive down to the Italian lakes. Just before we went I was tempted to change to MX5 seats but time ran out and I fully expected back ache but actually found the originals very comfortable.

Obviously we are all different shapes and sizes so might not work for you but worth a try.

I actually meant try Keith-vznbxyxvzm's seats, in case they are more comfortable...

Other seats that fit are some of the Lotus Elise seats, Tuscan seats, Cerbera seats, and I believe Lotus Evora seats, though only the Elise seats cost less than a remortgage.

Also Intatrim do some called Odessey II (I think), and at a squeeze and with some modifying you can fit Jaguar XJS seats.

The big issue is that TVR seats are narrow at the base and narrow at the shoulder, because of space constraints, and have very slim bottoms - take a tape measure to a standard saloon car seat and measure from the floor to the top surface of the bum rest, then compare to the Chimaera seat - saloon seats are several inches thicker.

The taller you are, the more pronounced the problem is with seat height.

Finally, Heath at X-Works TVR has fitted early Audi TT seats to his own Chimaera IIRC - suggest you phone him and ask before hitting Ebay. It's the gold Chim he brought to Donington if he goes "eh?"

Here's a photo of Tuscan seats, just to annoy you. I LOVE them.

The Tuscan seats look lovely although a little too "modern" perhaps for a Chimaera.

Need to get the tape measure around the local car park.....

It's a slightly yellower colour - I need to get my Magnolia centre section, doors and dash coloured to match. Will be doing so next month I hope, as I want to change the inside of the targa panel to the same colour - I dislike dark interiors and cannot always drive with the roof off.

The light interior is one of my cars + points for sure and I really like it, mine has the door cards done the same colour and it does lift it and make it feel sort of modern and fresh but classy.

It simply suits the deep blue of the dash top and carpets better than magnolia IMO.
With those seats fitted it'll look a peach. smile
