Me & Mike got to see your car this morning Paul, and they are making decent progress- still plenty to do though!

Your 'new' chassis looks a work of art, very jealous! biggrin

Well mine was having a new battery / cables, fuse-box relocation, and suspension adjusted/geo setup along with the MOT- had a call from them last night to say they had mostly done but were investigating an issue with the emissions, so hopefully that will be sorted today.

All being well I'll be picking it up after work!

Having spoken to NGs Dave's emissions issues weren't really issues at all, just the testers not running the car hot enough!

As for my emissions issues...

.. Yeah, not brimming with confidence... headache

On a more serious note the mod planned for Dave's car sounds awesome, I can't wait to see how it turns out! thumbup

It's nothing too crazy!

Basically I wanted better battery access- i.e being able to remove it if needs be without needing to get underneath the car to unbolt the battery tray, but I wanted to keep things looking as OEM as possible.

I'm not bothered about extra leg room (both me & my OH are short-arses!), so I wasn't bothered about messing around with relocating the battery- I just wanted better access! So NG are going to modify the existing tray so the front is hinged (with some shiny polished hinges), and the battery kept in place with some stainless steel straps and a quick-release fastener. This means I should be able to remove the battery in a couple of minutes, whilst keeping the interior relatively OEM. The only noticeable change will be the fuse-board being re-located to behind the passenger seat, again for easy access.

I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like as NG have said my car is essentially going to be the prototype for them offering this particular battery-tray modification, so they were going to take some photos of the finished result for their own purposes- I'll make sure to put some pictures on here once I've got it back!

On top of that they are also fitting a Levan jump-start kit inside the engine bay for ease of access if I need to jump-start as my 2-car driveway is one space in front of the other (rather than side by side)- making it tough to get a car alongside the passenger door for jump starting. This should make it a breeze.

Oh and they are also wiring in the connector for my new CTEK MSX 5 charger, replacing the main battery cables, and generally tidying up the birds nest of wires that was languishing behind the panel in the footwell...

With all that, along with the suspension/geo being properly setup, I'm itching to get the car back now! Should be picking it up on Tuesday biggrin

I thought it might be appropriate to go back to this thread now, as last week I realised a personal dream- I took my TVR round castle Combe!

She was impeccable bar a little belt-related drama (Trev I owe you a beer!), and I can't say enough for all the fellas who turned up with a smile and showed me the ropes. It was a big personal milestone and it reminded me of this thread, posting a load of rubbish as a noobie on a forum and recieving such a positive response. I can't say enough for all the support and fantastic blokes I've run into on account of PH, so this post is a big thank you! Without all you PHers I'd just be a daft bloke with a knackered old sports car and no sense of direction of what to do with it. wobble

PH, I salute you! bow

Here's to many more great times to come beer

It was nice to meet you at Central TVR's open day a few weekends ago Mike and to see your Chimaera.

That's a great last picture but I must admit that my eyes are drawn to that lovely M Coupe in the background!

bounce Looks like you had a great time on track. Can't wait to get back on the road. NG have pretty much finished, just needs an MOT and I'll be ready to go.

ps. Dave - I've even got a new roof now, so no more gaffa tape!

Hi Mike I would be happy to share a beer with you but only if I brought it, you are the epitome of Tvr, you took on a project that only most hardened Tvr enthusiast would attempt and in the process saved another one from the scrapers.
I take my hat off to you, enjoy the fruits of your labours.

PS, forgot the spaghetti exhaust and buy some sticky tyres.(;

That's great to hear Paul, your chassis as it stood in NGs was a work of art and I'm sure the car will be fantastic.

Not happy that you've left me in a club of one with the gaffer tape though getmecoat

If you're on the road by the 8th of July me and Dave are planning a little gathering. Would be good to see you there smile

Nice one Paul, I'm looking forward to seeing this new car of yours- it sounds like it could be quite an improvement over the last one! winkhehe

As Mike says, a few of us are meeting up in a couple of weeks (Saturday 8th)- plenty of time to grab an MOT...

tongue out Yup, spoke to Ricardo today and it was being MOT'd so should be picking it up at some point next week... can't wait, time to get out an enjoy it!

That should be it for a while whilst funds build up a bit. Then I think a electrics refresh and an MBE system will be on the list. Once those are done I'll finally divert attention to cosmetic things like a respray and interior refresh.

Found this thread after your post on 'spotted TVRs' of my Red Wedge, sounds like you're having great fun in the Chim.

Certainly sounded and looked good on the A34 that day.

Really nice to see the 'next generation' taking an interest in TVR.

Might have to see if we can meet up (at a show?) sometime and have a better look at each others TVRs?

I've never track day'd my TVR, but have done some 'parade laps' round Brands Hatch, Silverstone and recently Donington Park, was great fun to get out on track even if it wasn't 'flat out'.

Keep enjoying the TVR, definite case of 'much respect' for owning one so young.

Norman, a group of us do regular track days together.
We find it more fun to go as a group, and are able to help each other in the unlikely event of a problem.
We organise them via the TVR forums here, sometimes via the Chimaera forum, sometimes via the more general sections like TVR Events, or General TVR stuff.
You would be most welcome to join us.

Here was our last one, just 3 TVRs and a Ginetta - it would have been 4, but Engineer 1949 suffered a frustrating starter failure at the petrol station on the morning of the event. And Chilliwhizz came along to heckle and take photos. We have on occasion had ten of us along.
