just got a second hand 450 exhaust system and had it fitted to my 500 as the existing one was sleeved and broken... dan taylor who fitted it said that the 500 exhaust has a fexible pipe about a meter from the jount with the y piece but its not on the 450 one...

so the question is will the 450 exhaust with no flexi pipe cause a problem for the car, should i now focus on getting a 500 system to replace the 450 one.

I have full connected system on mine and no issues

There was a reason they went flexi, think it was to do with the greater power and they were concerned a ridged connection could cause issues , not justified

Probably because its a known weak spot or had already split. I actually found it more difficult to fit than the solid one piece.

My 500 has a solid exhaust, however someone has obviously had some issues trying to fit it as there's partial cuts in the pipe as if they tried to weaken it and bend it a bit. Also the lug doesn't line up with the mounting on the engine.

Cuts on the end are standard as it fits to the Y if those are the ones you mean? I cut the lug off mine as it threatened to puncture the sump.
