Some advice please.
Read all the posts on brake replacements for the Chimaera and finally opted for plain vented discs,Mintex 1144's HEL braided hoses,5.1 Pagid fluid all conveniently supplied from Racedirect. Front brakes were simple enough to replace but the rears have been bit of a pig.....mainly the access with the hoses.
I wound the rear calliper pistons back using the angle grinder tool and lined the new brake pad lug up with one of the grooves on the back of the piston.
It seems to have all lined up correctly and on bleeding the system and pressing the brake pedal, the piston looks like it is tight up against the new pad.
My question is this....how does the piston work ? When you press the brake pedal does the piston just push out ( like the fronts) or does it twist anti-clockwise ?
I have looked everywhere on the web for an explanation but to no avail. Your help is much appreciated as it is driving me mad !
A tip for replacing the rear hoses....I sacrificed 2 open ended spanners by cutting them in half which gave me enough room to turn the nuts behind the chassis.
Many thanks in advance.

Piston doesn't twist, it locks into the pad to stop it twisting but something inside twists (or unscrews) to take up pad wear and keep the handbrake adjusted.

this may help explain..... caliper overhaul
