Evening gents.

Diff replacement.
What should I consider getting prepared i.e. Dif bushes etc.
Having not done this before I'm not sure what I should replace as I'm doing the job. What spares should I have at hand as I'd like to remove old diff and install new one in one day if possible. I've already ordered plasters and bandages,,, and spare glass for the garage window hehe
Ok serious for a nano second,,,

I'd rather buy a load of stuff I don't need and then get a credit note etc if it's not used than get caught out so a list of stuff would be good thumbup

Thanks all.

Assuming you are going to remove the drive shafts completely, be aware that the bolts for the inner cv joints aren't necessarily the same as the outers.

I've got this on the horizon, did you fit the standard metalstic bushes or polypropylene Alun?

I remain undecided which way to go scratchchin

Sorry to butt in Dave, but when I did my chassis rebuild, I went for the poly bushes as the diff is only coping with drive inputs/outputs rather than dynamic inputs as the wishbones do and stuck with metalastic bushes for the suspension.

Hope this helps,

Ged

Metalastic Dave, I barely noticed any difference,,, infact non.

Not sure if poly will take vibration but I'm all ears smile

Al, 4 weetabix should help, it's not lightweight.

If you can use these they are just sitting on my shelf in the garage? BTR diff. Rear and side bush set. Mine had already been replaced when I did my chassis so were surplus.

Lorra lorra money but hopefully worth it.
Errr mine only makes noise between 30-50 mph as I found out today on the motorway, 70 mph it's quiet.
Hmm.
Oh well in for a penny,,, smile

BTR 3.45 diff cleaned up ready to install.

Looking forward to driving it after this. Not looking forward to installing it much!

I've had a feel of a number of these Diffs with wheels off the ground, most are like my original and have a few inches play.
One Tvr I've driven has no play at all and that had the best transmission.
I've invested in Mbe ECU and it's solved low speed shunt but I always have that slack transmission to watch out for.
This might just remove that slack. Without the inherrent shunting going on I might be able to make the diff last a bit longer.
Let's hope my hunch is right. Anyway it'll look damn good smile
