In the light of the recent problems with fuel lines, can anyone recommend a reliable source of a good quality product?

Would it be worth running copper from the tank to the engine bay and swapping to rubber for the last twisty bit? If so, at what intervals would the copper pipe need to be secured to the chassis?

IVA says clip every 12" - that plus before/after changes in direction

If I put a rubber sleeve over the copper pipe would a zip tie to the chassis be OK?

For a hard line you really want cunifer rather than copper. Copper tends to work harden and become brittle when you expose it to vibration.

I used cunifer on mine front to back when the body was off and welded on mounting points. But as an alternative what about p clip to p clip. Use the stainless rubber lined ones go with large one round chassis and small around fuel line and bolt them together. So much better than zip clips IMHO. smile

The original Copper brake pipes are just zip tied to the chassis. They do not have any rubber sleeves.

But, it's not a bad idea to fit some idea

The original brake lines are almost certainly cunifer. Copper/brass haven't been widely used for decades, because of the work hardening problem.

My car originally had nylon fuel pipe from filter to engine bay.

awkward stuff to work with, need a special tool or some nifty improvisation, to fit "factory type" push in fittings or can use compression fittings?

You had a fuel pipe, you lucky b#####d I had to carry mine in a cardboard box

Cunifer pipe and Gates 'Barricade' hose.
Cut some short lengths of suitable size 'washer' type clear pipe, slit lengthwise and fit over the cunifer, position along the pipe at the points you want to secure the pipe with cable ties. Gives a nice secure hold of the pipe and spaces the pipe off the chassis by about 1mm.
