Meta alarm batteries

I know this might be a stupid question but here goes anyway.....

I think I need to change the batteries in my meta alarm fob for my 96 Chim but I don't have the red code thingy and am worried the fob will lose its link with the cars system if I take the batteries out.
Obviously the batteries are going to run out at some point but I thought I'd ask if I'm safe to replace them without needing to get the car recoded.
Any ideas/experience in this would be really helpful

I've just changed the batteries in both of my Meta key fobs, one of which would not work, after only 17 years use! No problems at all. Just put in the new batteries and both mine worked. Go for it.
