Managed to fire up the car yesterday, but had no tachometer signal, the wiring has been messed about with when the engine loom was made and has been a nightmare with wires pulling out of terminals all over the place. Anyway I digress.

I have a yellow wire i believe replaced the black and white wire which goes to the ecu it also has a resistor wire that loops to the green wire. My question is where should the green wire go when it comes out of the tachometer?

Green will be ignition switched +12V into the tacho. On my 97 it comes from Fuse 16 and goes to about 10 different instruments/lamps in the dash.
Can't think what your resistor is doing but pretty sure it should not be going to live (green).
There should be a resistor in the line between coil and ECU to project the ECU from spikes (or somesuch).

Thanks Steve, I shal investigate further, it used to work fine with the restor it loops at the terminals between the yellow and green wires at the tachometer and this was how speedy cables told me to wire it
