Well I have found quite a few issues. Real Steel are being very helpful, McLeod not so much at the moment.

The main problem which I have found today is that the flywheel side friction plate is not flat. I think this is where all my clearance is going rolleyes

Another email to be sent and hopefully I can get some replacement friction plates asap. The car has been off the road since Christmas furious
I watched your video. The clutch plate is not even close to being flat, and this does not guarantee that it is square to the splined bore when all aligned together. Surely this will promote uneven wear and a poor functioning clutch. Especially if your fly wheel and pressure plate are perfect flat and square to the splined bore, it defeats the object??

I don't understand why Real Steel won't exchange it for another one?

Whenever I've tried to order a clutch from them they've never had one in stock and they've suggested 'it gets put in the next container shipment'. It should be easy enough for them to order an exchange if they felt motivated. I'd send them the video and invite a comment.

I agree that is a ridiculous amount of warpage in clutch terms I wouldn't fit a plate with that much run-out to a snotter without expecting hanging-up issues frown its just not right in single or multi-plate terms scratchchin like suggested Lewis chase up RS they wont be happy with that either IMO

When I bought mine it was a stock item.

Even if it comes from the USA it could be here in a couple of days.

Bend their ear!

Email was sent last night so I am awaiting a reply today. I have copied in the contacts at McLeod too in case they have anything to add.

I have missed out some detail on the thread but online McLeod recommend a 20 - 25 thou clearance between the floater and bottom friction plate when all assembled. I have measured the thickness of the friction plate, floater and conversion plate which bolts to the flywheel and the way it has been manufactured only leaves a theroretical 8 thou clearance, never mind the bow in the friction plate!

So even when I get the new plates through I will probably need to shim the floater out 0.3mm to get the required clearance.

I will get there eventually biggrin

Nothing works more than an Irate customer on the phone! Emails can be delayed, forgotten and put to the back of the mind but a customer who becomes upset and angry on the phone is something that most people try and avoid therefore he who shouts loudest generally get action.

Personally, I would demand another clutch plate from one of their other sets or a complete set as an exchange. You're not 1,000,000 miles away and a personal visit would focus their mind.

Good news. Fair play to them for sorting... be sure to post up how well it works once you get up and running (confident it will)

Got to send both plates back, however they don' t have any in stock. Could be two weeks or more till they get them.

Reading this thread with interest .. as my McLeod large diameter single plate clutch may not be able to handle my engine power for long.

So this as a pottential upgrade does not sound great.
