Do you know their weight compared to the TVR seats you took out ?

Just weighed one of the seats...13.5kg as far as I could tell from the bathroom scales!

So thats compared to...

Sparco Sprint 8.1kg - 5.4kg saving
OMP Eco 8.4kg - 5.1kg saving
Cobra Monaco 8.4kg -5.1kg saving
Sabelt Racer 9.5kg - 4 kg saving

I've got a dodgy back so very interested in any seats that will give better lumbar support, very interested in sound of Cerbera seats as a bit higher is actually better for me (despite being 6' 1&quotwink, anyone any idea of spec of those and costs> Would they be from specialist breakers?

There's an article about this on www.thegriffithpages.com

Cerb seats just about bolt sraight in, but you need different seat belt catches as they need to be longer to get over the bolstering. They come up on here and flea bay sometimes, but the most popular colours are rare as they've already been taken or they're knacked. I believe Tuscan seats will also go in, but Cerbie ones are much more supportive.

If you find a pair of Portland Grey Cerbie seats then clear off, cos I want them!

Sparco Ultra, which I think has now sold under a different name fits the Griff but I had to remove the cover and waste away about half a cm from the front left corner to clear the transmission tunnel. At a guess the Griff and Chim are much the same in available width. There is a pic of it fitted in this thread. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Cheers Steve,

They look nice. Would they have gone in without the bolster mod or was it just too tight? Also, how did you mount them and are they adjustable on runners or just fixed? Did the mounting brackets come with the seat?

Thanks,

Rob

It (I only have one) as it goes in for sprints and then the normal seat goes back for everyday use. Would fit without the mod but was offset slightly towards the outside of the car. Also it compressed the door trim with the door shut. The mod is quite easy, being fibreglass I simply lifted off the cover and took a rough file to it. It is mounted using the Sparco brackets onto a sub chassis that lines up with the normal mounting holes. That way it is simple to swap them over. I have some substantial steel plates underneath to spread the load. Don’t know if you have looked yet but the standard fixing method is ever so slightly worrying. The brackets are available either in steel or Aluminium, I used the Steel ones as they are thinner.

No it is not on rails for two reasons. It has to be as low as possible to give the required helmet room and rails are a bit of a no no for sprinting.

The Ultra (or what ever it is called now is a fairly narrow seat which suits me as I am fairly narrow. Some people who have tried it found things a bit tight. Probably the best thing is to go to a showroom that stocks various different types, sit in them and also take a tape measure because you can’t completely trust the catalogue measurements. Got mine from Merlin at the Castle Coombe circuit where they had a selection to sit in. Tweaks also have a fair few to try.

For every day use I prefer the standard seats.
