Are TVR's Quality cars?
Discussion
Mmmm - I've only had mine 6 months and have put on 8000 miles without a hitch - which I couldn't do in a 'non-quality' car probably. The facts that it goes like stink, didn't cost a fortune and I can't wait to drive it every day in life - well, that's a special car ain't it? Plus yes, the fiddling with it IS great fun - getting your brakes upgraded, phoning around for racing Magnecors, getting quotes for SO3s up & down the country, experimenting with water wetter, cleaning the stepper motor of a Sunday evening, wayoxling and hammeriting the winter away, going on club runs to Noels garage in Drem (hello Noel) etc etc etc. If there was nothing to muck about with, I'd just be another sad BMW driver. And I don't want that. And nor do you. Happy Xmas. Tant.

Well said, couldn't agree more-- but, I've realised that complying to the above does make me an enthusiast after all and, I for one, can happily accept that. It crept up on me without me realising.
Yesterday, I fitted a new wiper-park switch & boot gas strut (was fed up having the boot lid trying to remove my hands at the wrist every time I filled up- cheap @ £17) without thinking twice about it.
I shall be enjoying the Chimaera every day this winter (only car!) and look forward to better motoring come spring/summer.
As for quality? I get more from her than what (I have so far) put in.

A more effective cure was to fit seals from a cortina! Nowadays Ferrari Dino's change hands at astounding prices. The moral of the story being TVR owners like Ferrari owners do not buy their cars for quality they buy them because they have soul. And please remember TVR are the only small manufacturer to build its own engines, a major feat.
my first experience of a Ferrari was driving over a small bump and have the passenger door fly open. The build quality was appalling--but theyb didn't half go!!
Mmmmmmmmmm!
Quality? it is surely a balance. Where has the money been spent, IMHO on the right bits.
So much easier to comment on are you happy with it.
Am I? Yes
5K miles in 8 months across most of Europe, faults: None, although it was comforting to have RAC cover.
Only car I have owned that I did not want to change within 3 months of buying.
Quality is appreciated but it does not make me smile!
Smiles are much more important to me, hence TVR.
