Rear Speakers - 1998 Chim 4.5

Although the note of the exhaust is great there comes a time when I need to stick on a good Meatloaf CD (Bat out of Hell). Just to make sure I get all the vibes I'm fitting rear speakers. Just been through the latest TVR bible which mentions removing the door catch access cover and the rear speaker connections MAY! be here.
Anyone found them and do they match the color codes on the wiring diagram.

Hi, I put speakers in my Griff, and wrote the text up here of how I did it:

and the speaker cable colours. Mine did not quite match, but to be safe I simply connected all the cables at the stereo end and left all the speakers disconnected, I then went round with a single speaker and connected it to the wires to see how it matched the stereo. Did not take long and it gave me peace of mind.

What speakers were you thinking of putting there???, you will need something fairly powerful to over come wind noise when the roof is down!!! Have you thought about an amplifier??, with this you can cut out a bit of bass which will allow you to turn it up a bit louder without damaging the speakers.

I have some piccies with brief desriptions of when i did mine... the site is not quite complete but the speakers are in and sound great.

They are Rockford Fosgate 16.5cm and sound fantastic with no amp and a 5 year old pioneer head unit (40w).

phoenix,when you fit the speakers dont forget to leave the vents in place or create a new vent.if you block both existing vents then cabin will pressurise and at higher speeds,particularly with fan on,youll have a bloody annoying loud whistle appearing to come from above quarterlights.you can get away with it on griffs to some extent as they have other vents,but the two in your rear bulkhead are the only ones youve got in chims.hope this helps-mv
Or do what I did and mount the speakers on little legs so the air could circulate round them. Also because used 6x9s it saved having to cut through to the boot to get the depth needed.

I fitted rear 6x9s with a small gap to let air through under each speaker. I then thought about it for a while and realised that plenty of air escapes from the rear quarter velcro'd area anyway. I closed up the speaker gaps and I have no problems at all.
True, but the main reason in my case, was I did not want the back of the speakers in the boot, so I opted for little legs. It was only then I realized that the air could still vent. I must take some photos as the speakers are quite unobtrusive pon their legs.
Another advantage to the little leg approach is that it kept the speakers flat in plane with each other, where as if I had mounted them in the vent position and cut a deap enough hole, they would have faced in at an angle to each other to a degree, due to the curveture of the rear pannel in the Griff, but this may not apply to the Chimaera.

There's been a number of threads on this one. If its a later Chimaera, there are 3 vents in the rear bulkhead, so no problems with pressurisation of cabin if you put speakers in 2 of them.
I've mounted 6x9s and amped them which sounded great (Infintty as well as MB Quarts), I've also put a sub in the back shelf of a Chimaera:

Just sent you a mail. Catch you in a few weeks if I don't break anything else. My current TVR is a 1998 450 Chimaera, Formula Red with Magnolia trim. Passed through Uppingham during November on our way to Lyddington.
In the previous threads I've now found the connector in the passenger door lock area, this does have four wires going into it so I'm investigating this at the moment.
I'm also looking to replace the standard aerial with the mod-wise amplified unit, around the same time I fit the speakers.
