Well done drive2tractors. Top quality engineering!

This is why I like sorting out problems myself.....it's always so satisfying to "engineer a solution". If you took it to a garage with this problem they would insist that the seat frame and/or foam needs replacing!

It's not that I'm tight or anything, I just love to fix things!
Pikey!

hehe Maybe, although it's not me who has actually fixed a seat with a car mat yet...wish I thought of it !

I've now discovered that the problem is corroded straining / tensioned wires holding the foam cusion up (thank you to Ian of itstvr.com for this), or rather 'not' now holding it up as is the case here. Any ideas on getting some replacement (tensioned?)wires / fixtures anyone?

if i remember tonight i shall get the measurements of my seat and see if we have anything that will do here at work. They will be slightly thicker thought which just means they will last longer.

...may sound like a bit of a bodge, but i slid two old
number plates between the foam and seat wiring instead
of a old floor mat. Cant believe on how much better the
drivers seat is now!

Nope, mine has the box section as well and it looks identical to yours. Seems to be there to make more room for the longer legged - I guess it was some form of "factory" mod, or maybe the cars came from the same dealer??

My questions is whether to remove them as I am not long legged and it would be more comfortable, but if I do that then my wife, who is short legged, may well be able to drive it laugh

I must say, what a thread ....there in the market place is such a thing seat diaphragm which can be purchased for LESS than the price of a rubber mat/number plates or the amount of ty-raps used.... The factory original box section is in place to allow the seat runner lever arm to work if it is removed this is compressed to the carpet and you cannot adjust the seat, some have the seat sat on a stack of packing washers.(of course for someone who wants the seat job done by say a good trimmer then the seat foams are available new, from TVR Power)

I like it, recycled plastic-coated chainlink fencing, a master stroke! So many options, seat webbing, plastic cable ties, chainlink fencing, ..whatever next?! I understand the driver's & passenger's seats can be swapped over for an interim period (though would damage the carpet to the drivetrain tunnel after a while), as mine has now got to 'have to do' stage, after one of the said rusty support wires burst up through the seat leather, almost prodding me in the ahem, 'cheek'
