I will have to look at it later and see how it attached....

If it is from the fuel pump, the metal section of the body (the rusty bit!) will have attached to the top bolt of the fuel pump bracket. The wire will connect to the fuel pump positive. Just get a generic replacement from a Motor Factor of 2.2 uF (as it shows).

For what little it is worth (given my limited knowledge of cars ... 4 wheels, engine, err ... that's it really?) that capacitor's sole purpose in life is to stop electrical noise from the motor interferring with the radio reception on the car stereo. Not exactly a critical component.

p.s. Am I right in thinking tht the fuel pump is "wet", i.e. the motor is immersed in petrol? If so, I'd have though electrical noise wouldn't be too much of a problem as the motor's brushes wouldn't arc as much as they would in air.

oh well...might put it back on, might not...never used the stereo in the car so not fussed about electrical noise ...although for what it costs i might as well get a new one.

Trying to source poly bushes all round...found quite a few places that seem to be quite cheap.

OK...bit of a progress report.

These are not the most recent pictures...i shall post them sunday when i have got the chassis welded up.

As you can see the only parts left on the chassis are the enging and gearbox...the drivers side tube has been cut and replaced along with the half the tube that goes from the corner to the main chassis rail.
If you are going to do this then take lots of measurements of where the ends of the tubes are and of the hole centers diagonally as when you cut the middle tube it moves...lots...and if you weld it back without realising you will be in a world of hurt!!!
The tube is 40mm dia with a 1.5-2mm wall thickness...it is alarmingly thin...i have opted for 3mm wall thickness. Yes i know it will be marginally heavier but it will last sooooo much longer...and to be honest the amount of cr*p i am managing to ditch off the car it will still be lighter than when i started...

Anyway here are some pics

Yes - That Daddy...you were right!
To be honest this is the one i am going to find the most difficult to do. I know how i am going to do it...just not looking forward to it.

i have been told by the her indoors that i can spend all weekend in the garage as she is concerned that i am not doing as much on the car as i should be....

And the nursery...since i started the car i have put the curtain rail up so that is flying along...!!!

7 weeks left...no problem....!!!

Thought you would like that after your "give it a poke" comment...i have been right round the chassis with a chipping hammer looking for any weak spots...last thing i want to happen is send the chassis to the shot blasters and have holes blasted in it...

7 years as a welder fabricator, 5 years working for daewoo making concept, prototype and show cars and all together 12 years automotive manufacturing experience...a handy background!!!

That does seem to be the Achilles Heel - the welds always go first. If only TVR had acid etched the chassis after welding most would be in much better shape now.

the place that is blasting the chassis said they are going to hot zinc spray it after shotblasting and then powdercoat on top of that.

Totally finished the welding yesterday.
New outriggers in, suspension mount repaired, damaged lower chassis rail repaird and everything looks good.
Just waiting for the shotblasters to come and pick the chassis up and i should have it back before the weekend.

I have only got 3 weeks left till the baby is due and there is still a lot of work to do...i dont think i will get the interior done but hope to get the body back on the chassis and the car painted...

All the bits are ready to go back on the chassis so it shouldnt be too bad... hehe
