I've just acquired one of the above at a sensible price thanks to a mates bulk buy.

Have any other Chimaera drivers got one? Where did you mount either component?

I'm not keen on the windscreen mounting option and it looks like fabricating something to bolt the head unit to the centre console - probably in front the vents.

I want to put the detector next to the reg plate but ideally I don't want to drill holes in the bodywork to secure it. I don't suppose I can rely on the sticky pads that came with it. What has everyone else done?

TIA

I have just brought the same unit, but have mounted it on the Velcro patches so I can move it from car to car, so I'm not a lot of help to you... may I ask How much you paid??

I've used the Velcro thingy's as well, tomorrow I'm going to look at doing a permie install on the radar unit next to the number plate.

You can get a second radar detection unit for the SR6 and about 120.00 so I may use that for the other cars.

BTW I do use the suction cups for the display stuck on the far right side of the windscreen (if you rest the display on the top, it doesn't tilt too far forward).

honestfreddie, a little over £300. A bargain if you ask me.

I'm looking at doing a "just-by-the-plate" mounting myself, but it is gonna mean drilling the bodywork.

I bought a Snooper S6-R and initially had a bit of strife with it not actually working at all - grrrr... Anyway, after a couple of days they replaced it and now it's sitting proudly in my Ford Puma! When the GPS bit actually works (which in Central London is quite infrequent) it's scarily accurate! The only problem I've got at the moment is that I've got the radar detector behind my front screen which is one of these heated numbers. Apparently radar detectors don't appreciate being sat behind screens like this so it doesn't work at all well. In that I mean it only tells you about at camera when you're practically next to it. The long and the short of this little tirade is that outside city centres it works quite well and hopefully when I get round to getting a nice Chimp I'll be able to mount the radar detector properly so it will work effectively!
P.S. Looking forward to Chimp ownership, gonna have a when that day happens! I'll be on Hopefully the S6R will work well, then I can avoid too much hassle from and
