Hope you can all help (you usually can). I seem to begetting a whistling noise when I come off the gas, sounds like its coming from under the bonnet, hard to tell. Started a couple of days ago but yesterday it got worrying loud.

It may just be drowned out by the engine when I apply the gas.

Thanking you all in advance.

Check your fan belt - mine whistled when part of the outer covering became separated from the belt.

Pistol,

Did you get to the bottom of this one? A friend of mine is experiencing the same thing, and is asking me if I know what it could be. Was it the fan belt?

Cheers,

Neil

A dry bearing in the altenator will sort of "whistle".. you'd only normally hear that on idle though..

When mine was new, where the big air pipe from the front met the thingy on the engine (ISO technical terms ) it wasnt an air tight seal and air was 'whistling' through the gap.
