Got in the car to head up to Edinburgh last weekend and zeroed the dial to see how far it was door to door. After about ten minutes I noticed that none of the dials were going round and now the trip counter and odometer appear to have stopped functioning, although the speedo is fine.

Obviously this looks good for my overall mileage but is probably illegal and is quite annoying. Any suggestion on how to fix it without having to spend loads of cash?

Was the Odometer at *9999 by any chance. They tend to stick a bit. Remedies have been:

a) Go on a ferry. (Bit spurious this)
b) Some reversing

No, unfortunately it was at a totally random figure where you wouldn't expect it to tick over.

WHy the ferry? Because it shakes it up or just because it would be a laugh?

Will try reversing and some driving around gently pushing button in and out tonight to see if this helps.

Hmm, all abit random really, but I'm getting used to that.

Will have to check when I get home how much water is in the driver's footwell after last night's downpour. Still not sure where that is coming from. Hey ho
