It is definitely a problem across the board. Had my wife Merc SL up for nearly two months (and its cheaper than all the others of the same year, and several of the older cars).

I think the Griff will always be a better long term investment (if you can call a TVR any sort of investment) simply because there are less of them around
... which makes the 500 Chim even more of an investment methinks

Had TVR finished the Chim off with the 500 and then done the last 100 marketing thing you may well have been right - they didn't.

ps- now showing as sold on classifieds..but DONT PANIC, will only go to the otherguy if you decide its not for you!

pps- what is it with some people.....i have a bloke coming to look at my car tommorow. on the phone (never seen the car other than 2 pics) he says..."will you drop the price" i said the price was flexible to a point, etc, etc to which he says "well you need to drop it a fair bit to get me interested"

lol- now im as happy as larry to strike a deal but how about doing it once you have seen the car!

and when i asked if he'd seen the car on pistonheads he said "no, the autotrader, and why have you got the car on the internet- no one looks at that computer rubbish".....i await his visit with interest!

Errr. A hard bargain indeed. You lucky, lucky, lucky...etc

I take it a sensible family four seater will be required if all goes well??? I recommend a 996 or Cerbera. I also recommend making it clear now that that is what you'll be getting....

ps- chim noise makes a 911 sound like a hairdryer and a cerbra has one roof too many!

Well you shouldn't need to be *TOO* flexible on the price because it did look a nicely together example.

I've just sent you an email...

Erm ... I not only have a Volvo but it's also a diesel *AND* an estate!!!

No way do I want a 911 - that's what the wife wants and I wouldn't be seen dead in a porker - and as for a Cerbera, it has two seats too many! Demon Spawn was "inherited" with the now wife and I'd like the Chimp to be something that Jo and I can enjoy as a couple (rather than a trio) for a change!!!

nothing like crusing out to a pub on a summers evening to make you forget their are screaming kids at home

TVR's should be issued to all couples wanting a divorce.....they would save some marriges

(equally anyone getting a divorce with a TVR should have it taken away as it could be the car thats causing it!)

The dealers like Adrian Blyth seem to be moving the cars very fast. At one point recently they had no stock to sell.

They can't be selling them that fast - I see the same cars going round and round in PH and AT.

LOL - Just got back from a visit out to see some friends in Thamesmeade. On the way back I asked the wife if she knew whether the Dartford tunnel was the clockwise or anticlockwise lanes of the M25.

When she asked "Why?" I just grinned at her and she soon realised what I was meaning...

Re the bloke asking for a discount before seeing the car. If he has a max figure in mind that he'll pay for a nice example which is below what you're asking and he lives miles away there's no point him trudging across country and there not being a feasible deal is there ?

Is it not better for him to say "if it's as described then I'll be looking to pay a max £x" before you even start wasting one anothers time ? He might say £16k you might want min £17k so there's no point. He won't want to see it and be tempted so he's setting out his stall maybe. Okay, he may actually be a git, but it does make you focus on a minimum you'll take doesn't it...

Is it me or are Chimaeras hard to shift privately just now ?. Doesn't help that the Griffith is casting a shadow perhaps ? And if over £15k people seem to prefer a warranty etc.

Buying can be a nightmare but so can selling. No wonder lots of people give them away by selling to dealers (who add £3k and sell within two weeks) just to avoid the grief and hassle !
