My key fob had gone on strike!

Does anyone know whether the key fobs for a standard 4L 97 Chimaera are battery operated and if so, where I can get a battery from? The fob button has been sluggish for a while but now it's conked out completely (makes starting and locking a little bit of a problem)!!

Happened at the weekend to me in the S... damn thing locked fine, but wouldn't unlock.

Opened it up... nipped to Halfords... bought a new battery (2.99) and job done!

Can you just prise it open? I'm worried about breaking the wretched thing!

Pop into Halfords or something... get them to do it... then if they break it... charge 'em!

Pops apart without too much hassel, small screw driver of penknife at the front.

Handle gently - there should be two batteries sandwiched together inside! You could warm them up by rubbing them together ooo-err missus!

That should get em back to life temporarily . .

Thanks everyone - a little trip to Halfords appears to be on the cards - always dangerous - I always find things that I 'need'!

you may not be able to get them from halfwits i got mine from an electrical out let my 97 chim alarm is a META single button fob, ring round first to see whos got them.PANASONIC CR 1220 You will need 2 as big al has said TONY

PS May be worth investing in a spare fob! (Only about 40 squid for that and the key!)

Amazingly enough, my local Halfords actually do have said batteries and even more amazingly, when I called them I actually got a fully functioning human being complete with brain on the other end of the phone!
