Stepper motor - new fibre washer tip
Discussion
Took my stepper motor out for a clean (why? - because it was there!) and the fibre washer fell to pieces. The guy who serviced it last must have broken it and repaired it with some gooey sealer like Hermetite. Tip Of The Day - get a new 3/4" fibre washer from any plumbers merchant (Plumb Centre) and some liquid gasket. Don't try a Land Rover dealer as Castle TVR suggested. They are totally different on a LR!
That's OK if the dealer has one in stock. I needed it now! As I mentioned. it was Castle TVR who pointed me at the LR dealer. They could have ordered one from the factory - but I didn't think £1.35 plus about £10 courier delivery was worth it.
Anyway, it seems to be working OK and I thought I would pass it on.

whats wrong with PTFE
IIRC it's not too good with heat.
The PTFE is to lubricate and seal the thread to achieve an air tight seal. The fibre washer acheives a seal by sandwiching between the stepper and the plenum and requires some force to hold the surfaces together. PTFE requires less torque.

Didn't make myself very clear, yes PTFE TAPE to seal the thread for some reason I thought you ment as a washer material.
