Very nice. Are they definitely the right offset?phazed said:
Like them a lot. What type, size and offset are they please?Yes, I know it's a bit of a thread resurrection, but I hope this may brighten a cold mornning. I've waded through all 37 pages after obtaining some more alloys that I thought were going cheap on fleabay and I ended up winning them (you'll see why later) for my Chimaera. They are 17" Platinum alloys (part of UW group), here's what they should look like, except the present colour:
They have an offset of ET38 and although I know they are half an inch narrower for the rear, this should allow them to bolt straight on although I'm contemplating 5mm spacers to bring the edge out slightly.
These pages lead me to believe that the fronts may fit without spacers too, especially because some owners are running 7.5" or even 8" wide wheels on the front. Since it seems the later wheels had ET33 on the front, I reckon 5mm spacers on the front should suffice too, although it may not be necessary being 7" and not the later 7.5". I will be trial fitting a rear off my car onto the front to check, when it gets a bit warmer.
The fella I won them from does them for a living, the original finish was kaput. They even came with a set of Ford spigot rings.
Anyway, before I get flamed or receive replies of "my eyes!!", yes, they are that certain shade of colour used by Kawasaki. Should certainly stand out when I use them in the summer. :

It was your experiences on this thread that led me to deciding to fit 17" all round. You're right, think I'll go 5mm all round, otherwise the track on the front will be wider than the rear.
I was already aware of offset, it's amazing how many alloys are for sale on ebay without the offset listed. Many sellers don't, I believe, even know what it is.
I jacked the corner of car and put a bare wheel on the front. On full lock, there is about 15mm between the wheel rim and the aft lower suspension arm (plenty on the fwd one). With the bead of a tyre to allow for, this would make it quite close as the suspension flexes.
Fitting a 16" rear to the front to see if cleared on full lock, according to this site previously suggested on here

the later 7.5" wide rims with ET33 would have 1mm less clearance than on the wheels I've got. The tyres must be awfully close to the after lower suspension arm on full lock.
I have 225/50 x 15 on the fronts on Estorils at the moment and they are very close to the wheelarch when turning. My intention is 215/40 x 17 and 225/45 x 17. Some users on this thread have 215/45 x 17 on the front which have a diameter even greater than 225/50 x 15 (over 3% more!), so they must be perilously close to catching the wheelarch when turning.
Incidentally, with the front AND rear corners jacked up on the same side (trying to save time), the suspension flexes so much that the front wheel on the other side fouls the wheelarch by over 5mm when you try to go lock to lock with the engine running! Shows you how much flex there is in the car.

I have 215/40 17 Federals on my front 7J wheels at present. No catching. I run 215/45 17 rears, not quite ideal, but what was to hand.
I have a track set of SP 12s, 7.5J front, 8J rear.
215/45 17 front
235/40 18 rear
On my car they don't catch. On a friend's car at Cadwell, you would think he was trying to conceal an Atlantic convoy.
A lot can be achieved by not having your ride height set too low. Are your dampers stock, or after market adjustables?
