You don't have to suffer to enjoy a car, those days are long gone. Prefer PAS by a long way.

Anyone know :
1. What it costs to fit PAS.(about £2K?)
2. What price differential should there be between cars with/without? (if any)
Cheers

I had a quote to convert Chimaera to pas:
s/h parts £700 aprox & labour around £300.
Some or all parts may require reconditioning tho'.

PAS - definitely YES!
The one point so far not mentioned, is the day you come to sell it, which will happen - there will be a lot of resistance from potential buyers to purchsing a car without PAS.

Those wanting PAS as a must have feature, will IMHO, far outweigh those prepared to buy a non-PAS car. Therefore for ease of resale, you need to buy PAS.

Using new TVR parts it should cost around £1500 ish including fitting. Cost a few quid as they have to put a new steering rack in, but once done will be exactly the same as a PAS car.

I bought my non-PAS Griff with the intention of retrofitting PAS to it. Once I'd driven it for a week I decided I wouldn't bother. I don't even have much of a problem with parking - it's not much heavier than my PAS Chim was, and tbh I prefer the way it feels to drive.

As for price, well I suspect the presence or absence of PAS might make more of a difference on a Chimaera than a Griff, but when I was looking to buy the Griff, a good non-PAS would command a higher price than an average PAS one that was otherwise the same.

rude's griff is unusually light for a non-pas car, normally i wouldn't touch a car without PAS but they do vary. incidently going to be putting PAS on the V8S in the future, the steering is unbelievably heavy with no apparent faults ... and 4 turns lock to lock is too slow for a sports car. looks an easy retro fit.

Got PAS on my Chimp 500 and it makes multi story car parks a breeze and you just have to think your way round corners. Just don't sneeze on the motorway. You'll probably do an involuntary lane change.

Would be interesting to see how yours compares to mine before and after.

Yeah, when i did the recent griff PAS conversion onto a pre-serp car I offered the PAS rack into the S engine bay, the mounts are even the same distance apart and the splined input shaft misses the chassis a treat, looks dead easy. Would like to mount the electric pumpm in the boot but don't know how the long pipe length will affect working pressure, guess this should be as short as possible, but will try it anyway. Guy says the double adjust Nitrons should be ready soon too .. can't wait

joospeed, I'm wanting to retro fit PAS to my pre-serp Griff, where did you get the rack from ?? Mine apparently has the early non-PAS rack at the moment. Email me direct if you can, any info would be greatly appreciated.
