I've removed the central part of the console in order to re-glue the edges of the leather trim back down. The nicks in the edge of the leather are visible around the gearstick.
No problem with the inner trim (green), but getting to the inner edges of the main trim (cream) is proving hard as it is sandwiched between sheets of fibreglass bolted together. With bolts removed, there is still no chance of separating the parts. Am I being too cautious, or are the layers glued as well as bolted?
Any opinions welcomed.

I don't follow where exactly you mean. Can you post some pix please?

Hi Max,

Been here and done this. Edges of leather trim are glued as well as bolted under the fibre glass frame. I ended up opting for the duck tape option and avoided glueing all together. The main area of concern on my Chim was around the gear shift so easier to access than yours. Hope this helps. KTG

If you mean the 3 bolts clamping the gear lever gaiter to the underside of the centre console, then persevere. The strip of fibreglass does come away its just very tight and probably glued.

I did exactly what you want to do, it just needs a bit of gentle persuasion

Cheers
