They're mentioned in the manual but I cant actually see them. 2001 chimera 450, any clues?

Front one is a piece of bent bar in a V shape welded to the front cross member under the chassis.
Not sure if theres one on the back

The obvious place would be in the cut-outs in the nose (the PW dog bits ).

Thanks - about how far back from the front of the car should I be looking? Is in the middle?

Roughly in the middle, and it's on the 1st cross member you'll see under the car, probably about a foot in from the front of the car

It's a fair way back. I didn't realise it was there until I jacked mine up to Waxoyl it.

It's under there, but you need to be pretty much lying on the floor without a pit or ramps. It's not dead centre either, but offset from it.
