hello all,

one of the local yoofs appears to have ripped my rear window out of my chim to look what was behind the seats/ see if there was a way into the boot/ see what was under the recess in the centre console!!

anyway, anger has subsided, and i need to get the thing replaced. the roof isn't damaged thank god, so i need somewhere in the london area (SE london) to put one in for me. any ideas where, and how much?

Sorry to hear about the incident with the local pond life, but I have a call out to a friend of mine who works with tarpaulins all day, and is a whizz with the plastic welder...he has worked more difficult magic in the past (& cheaply!). I will post more details when he switches he ******g mobile on!

cheers mate, much appreciated. only problem is that i think you're talking about a knife cut. in this case they've just stuck something blunt through the plastic in 2 places and dragged it through it to produce a crude tear. i think there's no option but to get a new one stitched in.

if i've got the wrong end of the stick about 'plastic welding', please excuse my ignorance.

cheers.

I'm looking at a new screen my mine at the mo as well. It needs a whole new one. TVR dealer quoted A whole new roof, in excess of £600..!!! I spoke to penniusla (spelling in-correct I think) based in Devon. And they can stitch a whole new screen in for about the £200 mark... Trouble is I'm no where near Devon, otherwise I would have had mine done by now..

Peninsula will trailer your car for you usually for the cost of the fuel. Worth asking them?

My bloke who knows seems to think that he may be able to stitch / plastice weld a new rear screen in to your existing hood. He is currently exploring options and will get back to me. - and I will post his reply. Chris.

You could try a chap called Dee at Hoods near Crystal Palace...he supplies replacement hoods for cars and may know someone who specialises in replacing screens.....worth a try and he's on 020-8670-6160.

Let us know if you have any success.

SGee,

thanks for the contact. i called him, and he knew the price for the chim instantly. to me, this means that he's well used to putting replacement screens in for TVRs. also, he's £100 cheaper than anyone conmnected with TVR, independants or approved dealers. He's charging £150 + vat.

cheers

I live near leicester and know some one who is brilliant at stuff like that, he stitched in my back window on mine although I used the old one as it was not damaged for £60, I can't imagine that a plastic window would be much more if he supplyed it as well as he has the facilities to cut one to size and all that.
If you are interested let me know and I'll find his number for you.
