Thank HRG,
Seems straight forward I guess TVR will have put some surprise on the way.
anybody thought of glavanising the wishbones or enamabling them?
You'll probably have to grind the captive nuts off from the chassis, but that's not a problem just replace them with Nylocks when you put it back on.Seems straight forward I guess TVR will have put some surprise on the way.

Good luck with the body off...it is one of the most satisfying jobs you can do on your Chim.
Just for the record i got my chassis shot blasted, hot zinc sprayed and powder coated for £130...so shop around...the first place i went to wanted £600...!!!

And don't even get me started on ramps!
Hi steve the 2no bolts are on top of the transmission tunnel approx level with the bottom of your dash. If you carefully peel the carpet from the top of either side of the transmission tunnel you should just about see them. Why do you want to remove the petrol filler cap? There are some bolts behind the petrol tank, but you dont have to remove the filler cap to get this out, hope this helps,Tom.

Thanks, I havent looked that far up bit relucant to start removing the carpet.
From reading the griff pages I was under the impression the filler neck needed to come out to get the petrol tank out. I will have another go in the week
The filler neck needs to be raised to allow the tank to be moved back a few inches (doesn't have to come all the way out) as there are four chassis bolts behind it. These bolts might not be present on the Chim. From reading the griff pages I was under the impression the filler neck needed to come out to get the petrol tank out. I will have another go in the week
You need to drill 2 x 10mm holes in each tube to galvanise it to let the zinc in / out, any closed in box / tube sections can explode otherwise.
There's also talk of a risk of it distorting with the heat, I'm not so sure about that its the hole drilling that kills it for me.
Looking good Tom.

Hi there, A Griff forum spy here. Interesting piccys, could you tell me the age and mileage of your car. Mines a 95 with 40K and is really very good chassis wise. Had a good look a few months back and no rust at all. Was rather shocked at the state of yours and wonderng what kind of life it has had?
Hope that does not sound rund or anything, genuinely interested.
Cheers

Hi guys the latest update. Ive had the chassis and wishbones etc grit/bead blasted and primed with zinc phosphate 2 pack epoxy primer. I am now going to give everything plenty more coats of primer and finish with 2 coats of gloss enamel. Wil post more pics of the finished chassis [and the bit im looking forward to] the rebuild at a later date. Tom.
