I have just started to do a 2" lift on my chim as the two out rigger rails are rotten, i have only been able to find the back two bolts tho on both seats, do the front two go from the top into the chassis tube? also my bottom seatbelt anchor bolts (the ones on the side into the outrigger tube) are seized solid, any tricks to shift them without breaking them.

Front two bolts are angled backwards but they're definitely there. As for the seatbelt mountings, loads of penetrating oil for a few days then slowly does it. I'd also give them a sharp tap on the head with a 2lb hammer to try and break the rust.

Once they start to move just do them a quarter turn and then rest a while to prevent them getting hot.

Get under the cat and spray the bolt where it enters the tube with penetrating oil every day for a few days before.

Get yourself a hex socket (one that grips the flats and not the corners) and a nice long breaker bar, I think mine was about 24". rolleyes Apply increasing pressure gently, don't snatch at it.

Get some Plus Gas penetrating oil, miles better than anything else I've ever tried.

They are there - Just keep looking!!!

Under the carpet about 3 inches forward of the radio panel, about where your knee is when sat in the seat. Feel the carpet looking for a gap under the underlay.

Ok think i can feel them, do they go from the top down into the chassis? im guessing from the location of them you need the dash out to get at them?

Yes the bolts are vertical - you only need to move the carpet to be able to to get a spanner onto the bolt head.

I just cut a flap in the carpet as it was being repalced at a later date. On changing the carpet I found just how hard it is to get the carpet out from between the dash and the tunnel but it will come out!

Ok well as long as i know these are the right bolts i will keep on at it, think i need to remove the vents under the radio as they are holding the carpet down solid

The carpet is only stuck down the sides of the vent with a separate piece under the vents. It will come out, I used a long steel ruler to prise the carpet away were it was glued and then pull it out.

The picture below may help you see how the carpet is fitted and the bolt position is indicated with the arrow.

Hi guys just a quick update. The chim is finally back together as one, i managed friday pm to roll the chassis back under and lower the body back on. A little bit fiddly but not to bad at all. She looks like a car again, i will post some pics tomorrow sat am. Now i have finished with it ,i have a scaffold system that fits around the car, with six threaded points to wind up and lift the body, and some home made special supports that sit between the chassis to support the body as you lower the chassis down. This is available on a free loan basis to any TVR owner out there who wants to do there own bodylift. All i ask is you take good care of it, and when finished loan it on again, but keep me informed, with my track record i may need it again myself in a few years, so i need to know where it is. If anyone is genuinely interested in borrowing it, you will have to collect from warrington, cheshire. email me to arrange, Tom.

Yep that does look good, well done! Have you strengthened those rear arb plates yet? Another thing worth mentioning is your rear toe-in adjusters looks like they have been painted, of course you may have taped them first. Bit of a bugger at the best of times to adjust.
Nice effort 9/10 !! smile

Looking good Tom! Are we nearly ready for a run out then?
Have you done the exhaust mod yet?, would love to hear it sans pre cats and with a straight through bolted on evil

If you need a hand with anything, give me a shout and I'll pop over driving
