I think in any case it's not that great a bargain. My 94L cost very slightly more than that with full tvrsh and it was immaculate...

There was a rather nice Chim on here recently for 10.5k which had loads done to it (and looked really nice). I'd personally be tempted to wait for another like it and save the extra 1.5k to prevent resale problems. I think 25% off for a CAT D is about the going rate.
Having said that, the flip side is that you get the same car for less money - horses for courses!

What sort of offer shold i make on the car, It does need a little clean. The problems i found are.
1. Passenger door lock / button doesnt work outside.
2. Its got a tacky radio fascia panel, hand made effort.
3. Inside of hood, the carbon fibre face has a knock on it on passenger side.
4. No service history for last two years since write off. But only done 1800 miles since write off.
5. Repaired by his local garage but does look a good job.
6. Front wish bones are a bit rusty.
7.Leather seats are quite cracked.
8.Inside needs a really good clean to make more hygenic.
These problems you might say are normal, and would like some advice on what the value would be, all the tidying up bits are possible.

Aint M@H got his car on the market for about £10k ish i think.The ad says sold but i believe it fell through.Sounds like a much better buy specially isf your worried about resale

I think point 4 speaks volumes
Should've had at least two services in that time going by the mileage! Walk away.

My thoughts:
1) Electrical - could be pricey to fix.
2) Can you remove it and put the car back to standard?
3) Odd
4) I could live with it.
5) What did they repair? Or do you mean service? If the latter, not a massive problem, if the price is right.
6) No worries, they always are.
7) They do - but it shows poor care.
8) Ditto
In summary, the car hasn't been loved or properly looked after, so add the write-off bit and the answer is: walk away. Better to pay a bit more and get a clean, honest car you can be happy with.
. Looking at the problems you listed he's never goign to sell it, unless he offloads it to a dealer who sells it on to someone who will buy it without thinking too much...
If I were inclined and had the nouse, I'd offer him £5-£6k, but like others have said, it's better to shop around.
When I was looking I saw a Cosmos blue Chim in Reading which I negotiated down to £8,750 from £10,750. The owner wasn't a TVR fan, had just bought it cause it looked nice...bargains are to be had, even from traders, unusually...

Agree with what people have said, nothing wrong with a previously written off car (see my profile) but 25-35% off normal price
Also I'd be wary of "1800 miles since repaired" not enough time to see if any flaws develop IMHO
As a guide, I'm probably selling mine and wouldn't expect more than £13k for it (99T), and mine's a lot better than this one sounds
Look at a load of others, if you still like this one I guess he shouldn't get more than £8.5k for it

As already stated - there is nothing wrong with a cat D car, if it has been repaired correctly etc. I have had a writen off car in the past and it was perfectly good. Got a good price for it and nothing went wrong. In fact it was better in some areas that other comparible ones.... but that said, £10K for a Chimaera in that condition looks far too much.
Not worth it.... too many variables and not enough right about it. Anyway, no SH - fair enough, but 1800 miles in 2 years? The guidelines say 1 service every 6000 miles or 12 months - which ever comes first.... and I would not deviate from this. Risky.

It did indeed fall through, hence ColinRobs sale. Mine will be back on the market next week once I've got a new V5, also I'm writing an article for Sprint next week on the Cooling System of Pre-Serv V8's accordingly am pulling it apart a bit on Saturday and replacing the otter and thermostat at the same time for the sake of it.
