I've ordered a new key from TVR Personal Possessions but unfortunately they don't know when it will be dispatched.

My local Vauxhall dealer wasn't very helpful when I asked to get a copy cut (I'd been told that the key is a Vauxhall one), does anyone know if you can get one cut using the 3 numbers stamped onto the blade of the key or are these unrelated?

Thanks

Tim

I could do with a spare key as well, so be intrested to hear any ideas. Also is it possible to get spare remote key bobs? I assume its a meta alarm from memory,( havnt got the keys with me at the mo) so would meta or TVR be able to supply a spare?

I would have thought any highstreet key cutting place would be able to knock one out as the key is no different to a 15 year old Cavalier, had one cut for the Clio a few months ago and it was about £2.50

Had a spare key cut for my Chimaera at a normal key cutting place.
They just copied the original, took about 5 minutes and cost a fiver.
For the Meta fob, you will need a 15(I think) digit code number to get a replacement. This is usually on some sort of red tag, I understand. I didn't have one one of these, and so replaced the alarm instead.

yes, I think the alarm code is in the leather folder at home, might get a couple of those nice all in one key/alarm fobs instead of a new seperate key andalarm fob...never really liked the vxhaul jobbie..

Yep, that's the one I'm waiting for. But at the moment I only have one key!

I had one cut at a local keycutting place a few weeks ago for a few quid.

I've had a spare fob for a year without being able to program it to the car...

Okay, to conclude this thread...

I've had 2 spare keys cut at my local Timpsons (Shoe repairs and key cutting), at the grand cost of £10.50 for the pair, you can get just one for £7.50, steep but not as costly as some options.

It is such a shame IMHO that TVR build such a fantastic car as the Chimaera 500 and then give you a key to be embarrassed buy, kind of reminds me of those 'Ashamed of your mobile' adverts .

Does anyone on here have access to a foundry and we can start making some 'tasteful' blanks? Even my Nissan 300 comes with a Titanium key with 300zx embossed in it.

I was wondering if the fancy flick keys (as used by Mercedes) could be cut to fit a TVR. They have the same type of structure. Are there any rich people with modern Mercs and TVRs who can do a comparison?

really like the idea of a flick out key for the TVR, audi do them as well as merc, wonder how much a blank would cost to experiment on? they include the alarm module as well IIRC...

It's a Meta. I've had three different sets of instructions to program the fob to the car, so I want someone else to do it ...
