AVOs on rear have been replaced today with TVR-supplied Bilstein Mk4 units with new top and bottom bushes.

The difference is dramatic and although I've only driven it around 50 miles it's like driving a different car. No more knocking and squeaking, no more wild shaking over general uneven surfaces. I even found myself steering into sunken manhole covers and patched up surfaces just to feel how smooth good shock absorbers can make the ride over what the local authorities call roads.

I'll report again after I've a few hundred miles but in the meantime these new Bilsteins get the

TVR just get the ride comfort by having MASSIVE rubber bushes on the damper end eyes ...

Way to go, then!

just got mine back from peninsula with AVOs.
it's pretty 'jiggly', so i guess i may be tinkering with the settings a bit, but then i have been driving a corsa for 10 days!

i have all week to get used to it before i will get a chance to tinker, so maybe things will ease up a bit by then anyhow. i also have to let the new steering bits settle down.

i went for a quick thrash along the dual carriageway this eve, after the traffic died down a bit, and it seemed to handle well enough, but it does feel a bit hard for the state of the roads around here.

will let you know how i get on - will have done a couple of hundred miles by the end of the week.

just for you, Peter - it's a corker!

cheers.

Got my AVO's (rears, not had the fronts done yet) on 13 clicks. Roads around here are pretty diabolical and they are good, perhaps a little 'bouncey' on glass smooth, undulating surfaces but how often do you come across those?

I could possibly go another 1 or 2 clicks, but haven't gotten round to it yet.

I suspect we must be talking about different AVO/spring combinations here. Mine was frankly undriveable on 9 clicks and I had to settle on 5 clicks while I was waiting for the Bils (6 months waiting )

I too cannot use more than 9 clicks with AVOs, but changed TVR progressive rears springs for linear ones (changed front as well to match) and ride smooths out completely.

Also, I had all bushes replaced, maybe that in conjuction with AVOs/TVR springs creates the "jiggley" ride - appears the case with mine.

Driving along the A30 (bypass leading to Exeter & Pennisular), my Chim jiggled quite a lot, after suspension mods (AVOs & bushes/TVR springs), it nearly loosened all my fillings (on 15 clicks !!). With new springs & AVOs, it doesn't jiggle anything like original "soft/worn" set-up.

Just fitted my AVOs too, don't forget not to adjust damping until you've done about 500 miles as to AVO's own admission they will not bleed properly, they need to be on zero otherwise you are wasting your money!

That bobbing, rocking smiley should be adopted as the AVO logo - just about what I felt like driving their shocking shockers
