Simpo has no sense of humour - sad really but by way of compensation he has got a big knob and a flat head!

In 1996 I was looking for my first TVR, and my first ever trip in one was as a passenger in an S2. I remember saying to the owner 'Christ, it's as rough as a bear's arse!' He said, quite rightly, that that's what they are like.

Now you know why people who try to compare TVRs with M3s or Audi TTs simply don't get it. They are no-compromise cars - a chassis, a big engine, power, noise and that's about it. And direct steering, like a big kart with gears. They take getting used to, healthy respect and the right attitude. The more you put in, the more you get out. They are not grey plastic boxes that corrects your mistakes. They are animals and they need taming.

And you only drove a 4.0 Chimaera!

i couldn't have said it better myself.I have a five, and he took me for two sideslides today
was fantastic.
But treat with respect.always

Agree entirely with Jessica and Simpo two. My current 'work' car is a 225 TT which can handle all the bad driving habits [lots in my case]I can throw at it.

My first TVR [bought Sept this year] is a 99 Chim 500 which plays to very different rules. Respect and concentration needed at all times [perhaps as I'm a TVR novice?] Having driven M3s, Supras, etc in the past, I can truly say that this is the car that continues to literally take my breath away each time I get in it. I get bored very easily but can't see it happening with this car [or any TVR for that matter] As long as I remember which car I'm drving I'll have plenty of fun and stay alive into the bargain!

James Agger is a great contact - have a look at his site. Mike at Arden also. Probably goes without saying but get a warranty wherever you buy from.
Best of luck in your search.

Thanks PK1990. I've (well Rob Ingleby has) found a Silver 4.5 Chim for me. I've had a drive and decided to buy it !
There are a few complications to sort out, but hopefully, I'll be picking it up on Friday

Just got to sort out the insurance now.

Congratulations

Regards insurance, have you joined the TVR car club? As membership gives preferential rates from the insurers who advertise in Sprint.

There should be plenty of old threads on insurance if you search.

See you in Leeds on the 13th Dec

I would drive around and say Hi but I'm out of the country for the weekend. Unfortunately the Chim isn't coming as Ryanair refused to let her on board.

Insurance sorted

Nearly 200 squid less than my 1.8 Honda

Ok, it was an Integra Type R, but even so, 1.8 v 4.5

One advantage of being old(er) I guess.
