Some scumbag booted my passenger wingmirror off last night.

Anyone know how much these things cost to get repaired?

From what I can tell the main post is OK, but the cast metal that is fixed inside the mirror has fractured off. The mirror itself seems fine although the wires are mostly knackered so maybe I can just get a part and fix it myself...
Worst bit tho is that the mirror cracked the windscreen which I only had replaced 3 weeks ago!!!!!

Now I'm off to find scum to kill.

Cheers

Stew

Luckily I've not had to deal with wing mirror problems, but received wisdom tells me they can be expensive, difficult or both! Bearing that in mind, what about Araldite or is it too far gone?

When I replaced the aluminium post on my Griffith about 2.5 years ago the part cost about £12 from Mole Valley.

The wing mirror is off a Citreon BX, so try a breakers yard. Should not be too expensive!

Hope you have better luck than me. I think my damage was much the same and I got a bill for about £175 (and that was split 50/50 with sales and based on an unrealistic 1 hour of labour).

I think I might try this option as the main part of the mirror is OK.

Cheers guys

It's not a BX, I've forgotten the Citreon model

I think it's an XM the huge one anyway

In addition you need the post the has been mentioned before and you'll need to get the door switch out of the old mirror

Yep XM.

Rumour has it though that they are getting difficult to find. If you find a breaker who has a few it may be worth buying more than one just in case as they have a habit of facturing by all accounts.

Sorry to hear about the scumbags.

Might be worth checking with TVR, as the stalk post is so I am told only @£8 which was a lot cheaper than I was expecting ( I repaired mine before finding out cost), normally kept in stock, (well it was at Mole Valley Redhill don't know about the part you need though).

You could try Douglas Valley Breakers
Tel 01257 472866
or e-mail steve.s@misltd.co.uk, but they might only want to supply a complete mirror.

ah, that's better

some websites restrict who can link to images on their servers to avoid "bandwidth theft".......
